to their studies. The event was attended by principal officers of the
institution.
While congratulating the freshers for being
among the few lucky students who have been offered admission, he stated
that the privilege given to them came with responsibilities which
required them to take their studies serious.
“Dear Matriculating Student, I congratulate you for making the right
decision by choosing Benson Idahosa University. I know you had other
choices, there are a lot of Universities in Nigeria but for so many
reasons you decided to come to Benson Idahosa University. But, I want to
remind you that this admission comes with responsibilities,” he said.
He warned the students shun cultism and drugs as the University has a
zero tolerance to illicit drug consumption, sexual immorality and
cultism adding that the Founder of the University, Archbishop Benson
Idahosa placed a standing curse on whomsoever that would indulge in
these practices. He advised them to be law-abiding and to refrain from
joining unlawful groups, saying the Management would not hesitate to
deal with offenders.
Prof Izevbigie said: “I want to make it clear that Benson Idahosa
University has a zero tolerance policy for cultism, in other word there
is no room for cultism. Contravention of this policy would attract
severe sanction as stipulated in the Student Handbook. As matter of fact
the founder of this great University placed a curse on any Staff or
Student that would bring cultism into Benson Idahosa University.”
