2023 JAMB UTME/DE Registration / Application Form: Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and Direct Entry (DE) Application Form, Eligibility, Requirements, Mock/UTME Examination Date, Time, Venue, Fee & Deadline for Nigerian and Foreign Candidates for 2023/2024 Academic Session [Instructional Details & Guidelines].

Latest Update: JAMB has announced the resumption of the 2023 Direct Entry registration nationwide. This was disclosed by JAMB boss Professor Is-haq Oloyede at a press briefing on Monday in Abuja. According to him, the Direct Entry registration will end on April 28th, 2023.

He said, “You will recall that the board commenced the 2023 Direct Entry registration on Monday, 20th February, 2023, but had to immediately suspend it following the discovery of the plethora of devices and machinations to circumvent and compromise the standard of A’ Level qualifications required from DE candidates.

Speaking further, Oloyede said the Board would only accept 13 qualifications/certificates for the 2023 Direct Entry registration, which include; first degree, university diploma, Higher National Diploma, Ordinary National Diploma /National Diploma and Nigeria Certificate in Education.

Others are Interim Joint Matriculation Board A’ Level, Joint Universities Preliminary Examination Board A’ Level, NABTEB Advanced National Business Certificate, NABTEB Advanced National Technical Certificate,  NABTEB GCE-A’ Level (2015 – 2021), Higher Islamic Studies Certificate by NBAIS, International Baccalaureate  and the  National Registered Nurse /National Registered Midwife.

He also stated that the 127 candidates who had earlier registered for the 2023 DE before the exercise was suspended would be requested to return to the registration centres and update their application.

The JAMB boss also revealed that the data bank put in place to address challenges associated with the A’ Level qualifications had now been renamed as ‘Nigeria Post-secondary Education Data System’.

THE BOARD HAS RESOLVED TO HENCEFORTH MAKE THE UTME AND DE REGISTRATION PROCESS CASHLESS TO PUT A STOP TO ACTS OF EXTORTION.

FROM THE 2023 UTME AND D.E EXERCISE, THE BOARD WOULD BE COLLECTING THE APPROVED N1000 REGISTRATION FEE ON BEHALF OF THE VARIOUS COMPUTER-BASED TEST (CBT) CENTRES ALONG WITH ITS UTME REGISTRATION FEES AND THEN REMIT WEEKLY WHATEVER IS DUE TO EACH REGISTRATION CENTRE.

JAMB GENERAL ENTRY REQUIREMENTS [UTME & DE]

A. UTME

The general entry requirements for admission into the First Degree, National Diploma (ND), National Innovation Diploma (NID) and Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) programmes are five (5) O'Level Credit passes including English Language. Details are available in the eBrochure which would be given to each Candidate at the JAMB accredited CBT centres and State-Offices. It is also available for download at www.jamb.gov.ng and on Android Mobile App (JAMB IBASS) from the Google Play store. DO NOT GIVE YOUR PASSWORD to any centre (or Cyber Café). Any centre that asks for more than your profile code, email address and registration number is a fraudster. Do not give any password.

B. DIRECT ENTRY (NOTE: DE Registration Closes on the Same Date with UTME Application)

Candidates with one of the following qualifications may be considered for admission by Direct Entry:

(a) A minimum of O'Level credit pass in five (5) subjects at not more than two sittings with at least two prescribed subjects (for each discipline) at Principal or Advanced level. No subject shall be counted twice at both Ordinary and Advanced Level

(b) Two passes (in prescribed subjects for each discipline) at the Advanced-Level Examination of IJMB, Cambridge, JUPEB or Institute of Baccalaureate with SSCE/GCE, NTS/NBC credits equivalents in three other subjects

(c) Passes in two major subjects in the NCE with S.S.C.E., NTC/NBC credits or equivalents in THREE other subjects (mainly for Education Courses) and ND. For Education courses, Education may be accepted as a third A' Level subject

(d) Minimum of lower credit grade in National Diploma or National Innovation Diploma and the O'Level requirements

RECOMMENDED: JAMB General Admission Entry Requirements [UTME & DE].

  • DE CANDIDATES WILL BE REQUIRED TO PROVIDE THEIR JAMB REGISTRATION
  • NUMBERS WITH WHICH THEY GAINED ADMISSION TO NCE/NID/DIPLOMA AND PREVIOUS DEGREE PROGRAMMES.
  • QUALIFICATIONS AWARDED BY EXAMINATION BODIES (IJMB, CAMBRIDGE, WAEC, JUPEB, etc) APPROVED BY NIGERIA SHALL NOT REQUIRE ANY PRIOR JAMB NUMBER.
  • REGISTRATION FOR DE CANDIDATES SHALL NOT BE EXTENDED BEYOND THE PERIOD ALLOTTED FOR BOTH UTME/DE.

CAVEAT: 
CANDIDATES SHOULD NOT TAKE UTME AND DE AT THE SAME TIME. IF THEY APPLY THROUGH UTME AND LATER OBTAIN DE QUALIFICATION, THEY CAN UPGRADE THEIR UTME TO DE AT NO COST. Double/multiple registrations attract outright cancellation and prosecution.

Candidates are not permitted to register more than once. In the event of any error during registration process, such candidates are to seek correction from the Board and not to obtain a fresh application as doing so would attract sanction.

Registration can only be done at the centres listed on our site (www.jamb.gov.ng) and pasted at JAMB offices in each State capital. Anybody who registers outside these centres does so at his/her risk.

Nobody, including parents/guardians or any proxy is allowed to transact any business on any candidate’s profile. The registration process and all activities on candidates’ profile are being monitored by the Board and defaulters shall be severely sanctioned. Any candidate who makes his password, profile code or other security codes available to another person (parents, friends, tutorial teachers, fraudsters etc) is liable for any alteration done by such person(s). DO NOT GIVE YOUR PASSWORD TO ANYBODY INCLUDING JAMB OFFICIALS. These security codes are not to be demanded at any registration centre by any person for any purpose.

JAMB 2023 ORDER OF CHOICE OF INSTITUTIONS

Every candidate is to note that the 1st choice can be a College of Education, University, Innovation Enterprise Institution, Polytechnic/Monotechnic, Nigerian Defence Academy or the Police Academy

JAMB STEPS FOR 2023 REGISTRATION

A. PROFILE REGISTRATION

i. One Cell (mobile) number (SIM) can be used by one candidate only. The Cell phone number used for the text message is automatically tied to the Candidate's name and will be used in all communications related to his/her 2023 Application, Examination/Admission. 
NOTE THE SIM-NUMBER USED. IT IS OF UTMOST IMPORTANCE FOR SUBSEQUENT COMMUNICATION

ii. Candidate will send his/her National Identification Number (NIN) by text (SMS) to 55019 OR 66019 from his/her personal GSM number. E.g. write the word "NIN" then space and add your 11 digit NIN Number and send to 55019 OR 66019 in this format (NIN 00123456789). There should be a space between the word 'NIN' and your 11 digit NIN (Note that the number must not have been used by another person to register for UTME/DE in the past) OR Dial *55019*1*NIN# OR 66019*1*NIN#. Do not use postpaid or special bundle SIM cards, They don't work unless specially loaded with credit.

iii. A Profile Code of 10 characters will be received by the candidate on the same telephone (SIM) number. Returning Candidates for previous years will still receive same profile code on the same number previously used. Note that the profile remains the same for the candidate for present and future applicaƟon with the Board.

iv. The phone (mobile) number used for the text message is automatically added to the Candidate's name and will be used in all communication relating to each candidate's 2023 or future Application, Examination and Admission. 
 
CANDIDATES SHOULD NOTE AND ALWAYS REMEMBER THE SIM-NUMBER USED. IT IS OF UTMOST IMPORTANCE FOR SUBSEQUENT COMMUNICATION WITH THE BOARD
BY OBTAINING UTME/DE APPLICATION DOCUMENTS, A CANDIDATE HAS ACCEPTED TO RECEIVE TEXT MESSAGES FROM JAMB (55019 or 66019) EVEN WHEN THE “DO NOT
DISTURB” (DND) IS ACTIVATED.


iv. Candidate presents the profile code to the point of procurement of form (Banks, MMOs, MFBs, Switches, USSD Partners). The form- ePIN is then sent as text message to the candidate

v. Candidate presents the ePIN at any JAMB accredited CBT Centre for registration

vi. The application cannot be completed until the candidate’s biometric (all ten fingers) are captured and photograph taken physically (No submission of passport photograph). Successful capture of biometrics and photograph will authorize a candidate to print his/her e-registration slip. The finger print shall be required for any further transaction with JAMB on the candidates’ profile.

vii. Only candidates whose biometrics verification is successful on examination day will be permitted to sit the UTME. No parent or any proxy is allowed to make any transaction on the candidates’ profile.

viii. Candidate with biometric challenges would sit the examination in Abuja on the last day of the national examination calendar

B. SELF HELP IN CASE OF MISTAKE/LOSS OF PROFILE CODE

i. To correct a spelling error(s) in biodata, candidates should be directed to NIMC Office or JAMB Office nearest to them.

OR

To correct a mistake in candidate’s name, send the [CORRECT Surname First-name Middle-Name] to 55019 OR 66019 as a text message from the same mobile number

ii. To retrieve a lost Profile Code, send [RESEND] to 55019 OR 66019 as text message from the same mobile number

iii. Candidate can reset lost or forgotten Profile Password on their registered cell phone by sending [PASSWORD] space  the [email address] to 55019 OR 66019 as a text message from the same mobile number.

iv. SELF SERVICE: Candidates who are computer-literate can register directly unaided at some designated JAMB offices/PRCs.

C. (FREE COMPLAINT) TICKETING

For ALL complaints on JAMB processes, a candidate should create a support ticket at https://www.jamb.gov.ng, by selecting the quick link, and then Ticket/Support with his/her email address with the Board. Candidate then provides his/her name, phone number and the nature of the complaint, selects a complaint area on a drop-down and then summarises the nature of the complaint. He/she should also attach supporting documents (if available). Complaints from 3rd parties are merely noted. Letter writing is not encouraged. Rather all complaints should be channelled through the ticketing system for prompt attention and documentation.
For complaints relating to NIN (e.g a candidate sends a message to 55019 OR 66019 to create a profile but does not receive any response or receives wrong data, he/she can follow the same process on the ticketing and click on 2023 NIN related issues then select the related topic on the drop-down.)

Candidates and the general public are to note that nobody can help with admission or upgrade of scores; they would only decieve and defraud those who patronize fraudsters.

(e) Make payment

(f) ePIN is then delivered to the candidate's unique telephone number

vi. PROCEDURE FOR REGISTRATION AT THE EIGHT FOREIGN CENTRES:
(a) Registration fee for candidates from the eight foreign countries is $20 or its equivalent in each of the eight countries

(b) Candidates from the eight foreign countries are to download the Application from the Board's website (www.jamb.gov.ng) complete and submit it with the fee at the eight designated centres as indicated on the website

FOREIGN CANDIDATES UTME REGISTRATION

Foreign candidates visits https://efacility.jamb.gov.ng/Home
  1. Create a profile
  2. Login to the profile
  3. On the menu on the left pane, click on 2023 Foreign UTME/DE registration
  4. Go through guided questions until payment page
  5. Make payment using any of the authorized cards
  6. Complete the registration directly online

OFFER OF FREE APPLICATION DOCUMENTS

Any government, person or organization that wishes to distribute free application documents to prospective applicants is required to urgently procure the bulk e-pins from either JAMB or any approved sale outlets.

Candidates who want to enjoy any of this offer are advised to visit the sponsor’s designated banks or other e-PIN outlets (NOT ANY CBT centre) to collect the e-PIN after creating their profiles as illustrated above.

No refund would be made to any candidate if he/she had earlier purchased the application document before being offered free e-PIN. Such applicants should refrain from multiple registration.

HOW TO RECOVER LOST ePIN AFTER PAYMENT

I. If ePIN is not Received or Lost, send [UTMEPIN] or [DEPIN] to 55019 OR 66019 for UTME or DE respectively from the unique number

ii. The ePIN would then be retrieved and delivered on the candidate's unique number

AFTER SUCCESSFUL PAYMENT AND OBTAINING ePIN, CANDIDATE SHOULD PROCEED TO ANY OF THE JAMB ACCREDITED CBT CENTRES TO COMPLETE HIS/HER REGISTRATION.

JAMB REGISTRATION CENTRES

i. In line with the Board's regulated registration exercise, only the accredited Computer Based Test Centres and JAMB Offices will be allowed to register candidates

ii. Each candidate should visit any accredited CBT centre (the list of accredited centres is on our
 website (www.jamb.gov.ng), with his/her personal details, the profile and evidence of payment

JAMB REGISTRATION PROCESS AT CBT CENTRES:

Candidate must PERSONALLY present his/her profile Code and e-PIN at any JAMB accredited CBT Centre for registration. Candidate's photograph and biometrics (all the ten fingerprints) would be captured at the CBT centre.

Candidates are to:
i. Note that service charge of N700 payable to the Board for CBT centre registration as well as UTME (Examination ) fee of N2000 (including mock) or N1000 (without mock) are now part of the registration fee as such candidates are not to pay any other fee at the CBT centre.
ii. Provide choice of institutions and programmes (course of study). 
iii. Provide qualification with grades and dates, if not awaiting result.
iv.Upload relevant certificates if not awaiting result (this is applicable for both UTME and Direct Entry (DE) candidates
v. Provide 0/L and /or A/L grades. Candidates who are awaiting results should supply (upload) the results online on CAPS (JAMB) as soon as they are available. No recommendations from any Institution will be considered by JAMB if the candidate does not upload his/her result on the portal of JAMB. No institution is allowed to take a new picture/photograph, biometrics or require any other upload of result. All results are down loadable by institutions from the Board's website (and the download is tracked to avoid abuse). 
vi. Supply JAMB registration number for previous institutional certificates for DE only 
vii. Provide UTME subjects and choice of examination town(s) for 
a. Mock examination (optional) 
b. Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) (actual examination) 
viii. Review entries and confirm correctness
ix. Print Registration Slip USING BIOMETRIC AUTHENTICATION to confirm valid finger-print (UTME/DE). Note that authentication with your fingerprint removes blames of error from CB' centres. Candidates are to check before confirming with their fingerprint. 
x. Collect, at no other cost, the reading text.
xi. Collect their e-slip at the end of registration as evidence of registration 
NOTE: There will be no offline registration, as all the accredited CBT centres have been empowered for real-time online registration. No candidate should register at any centre other than the accredited CBT centre and JAMB State-Offices. Any candidate who is registered outside approved centres will be identified and disqualified.

BLIND CANDIDATES

Candidates who are blind are to indicate by typing BLIND and also picking the option of writing their examination through CBT mode or Read Examination Aloud. A candidate is either blind or sighted. It is important to be factual.

During registration, once a candidate indicates that he or she is blind, there would be a drop-down box for the candidate to select the town closest to hhis/her residence to write the exam. The towns available for the blind candidates are as follows: Abuja, FCT; Bauchi, Bauchi State; Benin, Edo State; Ekiti, Ekiti State; Enugu, Enugu State; Kano, Kano State; Kebbi, Kebbi State; Lagos, Lagos State; Oyo, Oyo State; Plateau, Plateau State; Yola, Adamawa State.

DEAF/MUTE CANDIDATES

A special indicator for the deaf/mute has been created to differentiate them for special attention at the examination hall.

Deaf candidates are therefore to confirm this appropriately during registration.

BIOMETRIC CHALLENGES

i. Candidates with biometric challenges can only register at JAMB Headquarters in Abuja. 
ii. No other CBT centre is permitted to register such candidates 
iii. They will also sit for their examination at JAMB Headquarters in Abuja 
iv. No candidate will be allowed to enter the examination hall or sit for the examination if his biometrics is not verified 
v. The system will not permit or process any examination without biometric verification 
vi. Candidates with Biometric abnormality can only register and take examination at the Abuja headquarters of the Board. The Board will facilitate the travels. 
vii. Candidates with biometric challenges would sit for the examination in Abuja on the last day of the national examination calendar.

JAMB 2023 DATES AND VENUE FOR UNIFIED TERTIARY MATRICULATION EXAMINATION

The 2023 UTME will commence on Tuesday, 25th April, to Tuesday, 2nd May, 2023 while foreign centres' UTME is scheduled for Monday, 30th May, 2023 at all the 9 foreign centres.

The venue of the examination will be at any centre in the candidate's chosen examination town(s)

JAMB REGISTRATION FEE/PROCUREMENT OF REGISTRATION ePINs

For the 2023 UTME, candidates are required to pay either (a) a total of Five Thousand Seven Hundred (N5,700) Naira only if not siƫng for optional Mock while candidates who intend to sit the mock UTME would be required to pay N6,700 Naira. Either has incorporated all fees including the N2,700/ N1,700 fee of the CBT centre for UTME as DE is N4,700. $20 is the applicaton fee for Candidates from the nine foreign centres.

Candidates should note that ePINS purchased are tied to individual profile and are not transferable

Candidates are advised to keep as private and confidential their security details such as registration numbers, password/numbers of ATM Cards, email addresses and ePINs. 
 
No centre is allowed to request for or accept a candidates password.

JAMB 2023 OPTIONAL MOCK-EXAMINATION

The Board will also conduct a mock examination in all the accredited CBT centres to prepare and familiarize INTERESTED Candidates with the CBT environment. Interested candidates are advised to indicate their interest in the mock examination during registration provided they register early enough.

JAMB 2023 MOCK Registration Period: 14th January Till Slots are Filled.

The date for MOCK examination is Tuesday 18th April, 2023 (RESCHEDULED).

10.1 All candidates must mandatorily register their profiles through text messages as illustrated above before proceeding to buy the ePIN
10.2 The registraton fee is non-refundable
10.3 Candidates are advised to read and understand the guidelines on admission and instructions as shown on the scan QR Code on how to complete the online registration before commencing the process of registration. He or she is also to sign an MoU on ethical standards.
10.4 Multiple registrations are not permitted. Candidates who register more than once will be identified, disqualified and prosecuted.
10.5 Candidates are to note that irrespective of their choice of programme, they will also be tested on a general text: “The Life Changer” by Khadija Abubakar Jali. All Candidates are also expected to read the text.
10.6 Candidates/Officials would not be allowed to enter into the examination centre with earphones, wristwatches, mobile phones, electronic devices, or any pen/biro. Only common pencil is allowed
10.7 Candidates are warned that the Board does not require nor authorise the services of ANY cyber café, school or establishment other than the accredited CBT centres for this exercise
10.8 Examination malpractice is a criminal offence that aƩracts, in addittion to the cancellation of results, publication of names and prosecution of such offenders
 

2023 JAMB UTME INSTRUCTIONS FOR CBT CENTERS

CCTV Footages

  • Each Centre must have evidence to show that the number of CCTV footages copied by Technical Officers and CPN officials correspond with the number of channels available for all cameras installed 

Collection of E-Slip from Candidates

  • No examination official should collect e-Slip (Registration Slip) from any candidate either before, during or after the examination

Using Biometric Verification to login by Candidates for examination

  • Only candidates who are biometrically verified successfully would be able to login for examination
  • Any Centre/one which allows candidate(s) into the Examination Hall and cannot login would be held responsible

Minimum of one (1) Hour Duration in the Examination by any Candidate

  • No candidate is allowed to spend less than one (1) hour during his/her examination
  • Visible and Clearly Tagged Seat Number on Cubicles
  • Every Cubicle MUST be clearly tagged with bold & visible Seat Number that CCTV cameras can capture
  • Samples and each centre is to place it before Mock Examination
