Umaru Musa Yar'adua University (UMYU), Katsina Full Time Postgraduate Admission Form, Entry Requirements, Duration, Application Guidelines and Closing Date for 2022/2023 Academic Session.

This is to inform the general public, interested and qualified candidates that the sales of form of the Umaru Musa Yar'adua University, Katsina, UMYU Postgraduate School for the 2022/2023 academic session has commenced.

Interested and qualified applicants can apply online via the University website www.umyu.edu.ng or https://collegeportal.umyu.edu.ng/pg/applicant/index.

Prospective students are to apply for admissions into the following full-time Postgraduate programmes of Umaru Musa Yar’adua University, Katsina for the 2022/2023 academic session:-

Masters in Resource Development (MRD)     -           2 to 4 Semesters

Admission Requirements

A. POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA

The following shall qualify for the Postgraduate Diploma admission:
  1. Graduates of recognized Universities;
  2. Holders of Higher National Diploma (HND) with a minimum of Lower Credit pass or its equivalent in relevant areas;
  3. Holders of Higher National Diploma (HND) without Education obtained at Credit level with a three years relevant postgraduate experience;
  4. Candidates who hold qualifications other than the above, which are acceptable to the Board of Postgraduate and Senate of the University.
  5. Candidates with Third Class degree in areas other than Education can be considered after three years relevant postgraduate experience. Those in the Education may be considered in their area of specialization;
  6. All candidates shall be subjected to a selection process.

B. MASTER’S DEGREE

The following shall qualify for the Master’s Degree Programmes: –
  1. Graduates of recognized Universities who have obtained the approved Bachelors Degree with at least Second-Class Honors or its equivalent. Candidates with Second-Class Lower and additional qualification of a Postgraduate Diploma at Credit pass level from a recognized Institution will have more advantage.
  2. Candidates who hold qualifications other than the ones listed above, which are acceptable to the Senate of the University.
The following shall qualify for Professional Masters’ degree admission:
  1. Graduates of recognized Universities who have obtained the approved Bachelors Degree in relevant field, with at least Second-Class Honors or its equivalent.
  2. Candidates with any Bachelor’s degree in Third Class division who have at least five years relevant working experience.
  3. Candidates who possess Higher National Diploma (HND) with at least a Credit pass and at least a Credit pass at Postgraduate Diploma of a recognized Institution;
  4. Candidates who hold qualifications other than the ones listed above, which are acceptable to the Senate of the University.

C. DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY (PhD)

The following shall qualify for the Doctor of Philosophy admission:
  1. Graduates of recognized Universities who have obtained a good Masters Degree with CGPA of 3.50 and above appropriate to the proposed areas of study;
  2. Graduates of recognized Universities who have obtained Masters of Philosophy degree with CGPA of 3.50 on a 5 point scale to proceed for PhD in the appropriate to the proposed areas of study;
  3. In addition to (i) – (ii) above, a candidate must possess at least a Bachelors degree in Second Class lower division;
  4. Candidates who hold qualifications other than the above, which are acceptable to the Board of Postgraduate School and Senate of the University;
  5. Candidate must state the proposed area of research and submit a synopsis of not less than 500 words of the proposed topic of research.

Matriculation Requirement:

In addition to A, B, C and D above, a candidate must satisfy the University’s matriculation requirements i.e five Credit Passes at the O’level to include English and Mathematics.
Selection Process:
All candidates shall be subjected to a selection process. There may be screening/entrance examination on a date which would be announced on the University Website (www.umyu.edu.ng). Candidates are therefore advised to check.

       Duly completed application forms and supporting documents must be forwarded to the SECRETARY, POSTGRADUATE SCHOOL, UMARU MUSA YAR’ADUA UNIVERSITY, P.M.B., 2218, KATSINA ON OR BEFORE 28TH FEBRUARY, 2023.
