LASG Upgrades Lagos State School of Nursing to Tertiary Institution

Lagos State Government, LASG Approves the Upgrade of the Lagos State School of Nursing and Midwifery to the Lagos State College of Nursing, Midwifery and Public Health Nursing.

 The Lagos State Government has approved an upgrade of the State School of Nursing and Midwifery to the Lagos State College of Nursing, Midwifery and Public Health Nursing in furtherance of its commitment towards ensuring the provision of quality education in the State’s Health Sector.

According to a circular issued by the Office of the Head of Service, the School is now a Tertiary Institution empowered to operate as the apex centre of teaching, learning and instructions in Nursing, Midwifery and Public Health Nursing among other courses, as well as an examination body for the award of National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) certificates towards advancing knowledge in the Nursing profession.

It stated further that the College, which was hitherto under the supervision of the Lagos State Ministry of Health, will henceforth be supervised by the Office of the Special Adviser on Education (OSAE) as specified in the Assignment of Ministerial Responsibilities of MDAs (2015).

Recall that Governor Akinwunmi Ambode had, on 8th February, 2018 assented to the Lagos State College of Nursing, Midwifery and Public Health Nursing Law.
