PTDF Overseas PG Scholarship – Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) Overseas MSc and PhD Scholarships For Nigerians Application Form, Eligibility, Courses, Selection Criteria and Application Guidelines and Deadline for 2025/2026 Session [Study in UK, Germany, France & Malaysia].

The Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF), a Federal Government agency under the Ministry of Petroleum Resources, invites applications from suitably qualified Nigerians for its 2025/2026 Overseas MSc and PhD Scholarship Scheme.

This fully funded opportunity allows successful candidates to pursue postgraduate studies in top-ranked universities in the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Malaysia, and at the College of Petroleum and Energy Studies, Kaduna (CPESK).

📚 Courses Available

Only oil and gas-related fields will be accepted. These include:

  • Petroleum Engineering
  • Renewable Energy
  • Geosciences
  • Mechanical & Chemical Engineering
  • Energy Policy and Environmental Management

 

✅ MSc Eligibility

  • Minimum of Second-Class Upper (2.1) or 2.2 with relevant experience
  • NYSC completion certificate
  • Computer literacy
  • 5 O’Level credits including English & Maths
  • 500-word statement of purpose
  • National Identity Number (NIN) and NIN Verification Report
  • Multiple applications = disqualification
 

✅ PhD Eligibility

  • NYSC certificate
  • Minimum of 2.2 in first degree and a relevant master's degree
  • 5-page research proposal (Topic, Intro, Objectives, Methodology, Data Collection)
  • Vice Chancellor’s letter (for lecturers)
  • Verified NIN and NIN report

⚠️ Additional Notes

  • Former PTDF scholars cannot apply for the same or lower degree level
  • Only partner universities are accepted
  • Ongoing PhD students eligible only if their university is on the approved list
  • Applicants with other scholarships are ineligible
  • German applicants must select Abuja as interview location
  • Verify NIN here (charges apply)

 

🧠 Selection Process

Top applicants from each state will be shortlisted for interviews. Selection will be based on:

  • Academic merit (transcripts, degree class)
  • Professional memberships
  • Relevant research/publications (for PhD)
  • Quality of proposal/study plan
