Alex Ekwueme Federal Univesity, Ndufu-Alike Ikwo, Abakaliki, Ebonyi State [AE-FUNAI] Turns Out 335 Graduates at Third [3rd] Convocation Ceremony, Honours Alake of Egbaland.
Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State, has turned-out 355 graduates at its 3rd convocation ceremony held on Tuesday, 18th December 2018, of which 15 of them emerged with First Class Honours in their various fields.This was made known by the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Chinedum Nwajiuba while delivering his address at the convocation arena.
“There are three hundred and fifty-five (355) graduands being celebrated today. Last year, at a similar event, we awarded degrees to two hundred and forty-seven (247) graduands, while in 2016 we had 124 pioneer graduates.
“ Of these three hundred and fifty-five (355) graduands, fifteen (15) emerged with the First Class Honours, One hundred and eighty-eight (188) with the Second Class Honours (Upper Division), One hundred and forty-five (145) with the Second Class Honours (Lower Division), and Seven (7) with the Third Class”, the Vice-Chancellor stated
Giving a breakdown of the graduands by faculties, the Vice-Chancellor further stated: ‘AE-FUNAI is on an upward trajectory. The three hundred and fifty-five (355) graduands are being awarded Bachelor’s degrees as follows: Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences, 62; Faculty of Humanities, 44; Faculty of Management and Social Sciences, 148; and Faculty of Science, 101.”
Meanwhile, the University also at the event honoued the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, HRM Oba Michael Aremu Adedotun Gbadebo CFR and a former Minister of Education and Health, Professor Ihechukwu Mmadubike with Honorary Doctoral Degrees of Management and Law respectively for their exemplary contributions to the advancement of education in Nigeria
The highlight of the 3rd convocation ceremony was the award of academic prizes to outstanding graduands, where Miss Chukwuekezie Nnenna of the Department of Biology/Microbiology/Biotechnology received the Vice-Chancellor’s prize for the overall best graduand and an additional three other prizes.
