FUTA Announces Mid-Semester Break 2019/2020 [UPDATED]

Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) Announces Mid-Semester Break and Shut Down of Academic Activities Over Corona Virus (COVID-19) Pandemic for 2019/2020 Academic Session.

Authorities of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) has wishes to inform all students and staff of the institution that they should proceed on mid-semester break.

Following the incidence of Corona Virus infestation in parts of the country and its concern for the health and well-being of members of the of the Federal University of Technology Akure Community , the Management of FUTA , out of abundance of caution , hereby directs that all academic activities and related matters involving students be suspended from Friday, March 20, 2020. 

Consequently all students, except international postgraduate students, should proceed on mid semester break and therefore should vacate all halls of residence by today , March 20, 2020 as fumigation of halls of residence will begin immediately.

Students are strongly advised to observe all prescribed precautions and hygienic practices relating to the prevention against Corona Virus and Lassa fever during and after this period. They are also enjoined not to engage in any activity that could endanger their lives or put their studentship in abeyance during the course of the break.

However members of staff are expected to continue with their normal official functions but are strongly advised to maintain proper hygiene and other prescribed anti-infection practices including social distancing

The date for resumption for students will be communicated to them via extant University Channels in due course.
