DAAD Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (German Academic Exchange Service) In-Country / In-Region Scholarship Programme“ Call for Scholarship Applications 2019 at University of Nigeria, Nsukka in Nigeria Funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
The DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service), as a publicly funded, self governing organisation of the institutions of higher education in Germany, promotes international academic exchange as well as educational co-operation with developing countries through a variety of funding and scholarship programmes.PROGRAMME OBJECTIVES
As part of the „In-Country/In-Region Scholarship Progamme“ DAAD offers scholarships for PhD and Master studies The programme is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and aims at university staff in the first line, without neglecting the public sector demand of academically trained personnel.The target group for scholarships are graduates and postgraduates from Sub Saharan Africa with a first academic degree if applying for a master’s programme, or with a Master’s degree if applying for a doctoral programme who want to pursue Master’s or PhD courses in their home country (so called In-Country scholarships) or in another Sub-Saharan African country (In-Region scholarships).
It has been agreed upon that DAAD cooperates with University of Nigeria, Nsukka by offering up to 8 In-Region and 2 In-Country scholarships for PhD and up to 13 In-Region and 3 In-Country scholarships for Master studies at University of Nigeria, Nsukka for the intake 2019.

The In-Country/In-Region Scholarship Programme supports studies in subject areas with strong relevance to national development.The scholarships at UNN are available in the following fields:
• Agricultural Bioresources Engineering
• Agricultural Sciences
• Biochemistry
• Electronic Engineering
• Mechanical Engineering
• Microbiology
• Pharmacy
• Social Sciences
• Zoology
APPLICATION GUIDELINES
Candidates who wish to apply for DAAD In-Country/In-Region Scholarship Must first be admitted into University of Nigeria. Application procedure for admission for those wishing to apply for the DAAD Scholarship has been simplified as follows.
The Candidates should submit the following documents via email:
- Completed application form
- Curriculum vitae
- Academic Certificates or Statements of Result *
- Academic Transcripts *
- Brief description of the intended Research (Research proposal – maximum two pages).
- Two Referee reports from your University and/or Employer
For those applying for M.Sc. programme, only the Bachelor’s degree Certificate and Transcripts are required. However, for those applying for Ph.D. Programme BOTH Bachelor’s and Masters Degree certificates and Transcripts are required.

APPLICATION FEE
Application fee is twenty-six thousand Naira only but this can be paid at the point of registration.CLOSING DATE
Please note that applicants for the scholarship must submit their application to the University of Nigeria at the latest 10th May, 2019.Shortlisted Candidate will be contacted shortly afterwards and directed to complete the second stage submission on the DAAD web portal.
