Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB Conducted the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME for Nigerian Candidates Abroad and Citizens of other Nationalities Wishing to Study in Nigeria
To give equal opportunity to all Nigerians desirous of qualitative higher education particularly Nigerians in diaspora and other foreigners who may wish to come to Nigeria and acquire tertiary education, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has conducted a foreign-based examination for Nigerian candidates abroad and citizens of other nationalities who may want to study in Nigeria.The examination was successfully conducted in seven countries namely: Ghana,United Kingdom, Cameroon, Benin Republic, Cote d’lvoire, South Africa and Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The exercise which was administered hitch free was a testimony to the commitment and capacity of the Board to render quality service to the nation whenever the need arises.
Over 200 candidates took the UTME examination that held simultaneously on Saturday, 27th April, 2019 in all the aforementioned centres.
Reports from the Board's officials deployed to these foreign examination centres revealed that the candidates, particularly Nigerians, were elated with the various innovations and professionalism brought to bear on the conduct of the examination by the Prof. Ishaq Oloyede-led JAMB.
They also express their appreciation to the Board for according them the opportunity to achieve their dreams and aspirations for tertiary education.
A senior official of the Board who monitored the examination in a remark said, "We are indeed happy to have achieved yet another feat especially as we had people who came around to observe and understudy the process.
They were happy as well as impressed with what they saw on ground. We know it can only be better because we have the capacity and all it takes to move this country to the next level ” he said.
On the rationale for conducting this extra level of UTME, the official added, “We are not just conducting the examination in these countries on account of the candidates alone which was, at any rate, negligible but because we also want to showcase Nigeria’s giant strides in technological advancement on the global scene".
