Kaduna State Scholarship Board (KSSB) Local Scholarships Award Form, Requirements, Eligibility, Application Guidelines for 2021/2022 Academic Session | Merit Based (Undergraduate [UG] / HND, ND & NCE, Postgraduate [PG] & Part-Time [Continuing Students]), Need Based (Undergraduate [UG], Postgraduate [PG] & Registered Nurse) and Local Scholarship For Health Related Courses.
The Kaduna State Scholarship Board, KSSB hereby invites application from suitable and qualified indigents students of the Kaduna State to apply for the ongoing local scholarship award for  2021/2022 academic session.

Kaduna State Local Scholarship Award - Avaliable Scholarships

There are two (2) main type of scholarship schemes for applicants wishing to apply.
  1. Merit Based Scholarship: (Candidates having CGPA of 3.5 and above) they are generally for Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Continuing Students.
    • Scholarship For Six Students To Study Medicine At King David University Of Medical Sciences
  2. Need Based Scholarship: (Candidates from indigent families) they are generally for Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Continuing Students.
  3. Local Scholarship For Health Related Courses

A. MERIT BASED SCHOLARSHIP

The Kaduna State Scholarship and Loans Board have a mandate ‘To identify, select and empower qualified citizens of Kaduna state to meet the current and future manpower requirements of the State while remaining globally competitive’.

Furthermore, the Kaduna State Government is particular about rewarding excellence and hard work for all its citizens.

a. Scholarship For Six Students To Study Medicine At King David University Of Medical Sciences

This is a scholarship from Ebonyi State Government to Kaduna State Government for six (6) students to study Medicine. Ebonyi State Government will take care of the tuition fees throughout the students studies while Kaduna State will take care of upkeep, accommodation and logistics

B. NEED BASED SCHOLARSHIP

The Kaduna State Scholarship and Loans Board have a mandate ‘To identify, select and empower qualified citizens of Kaduna state to meet the current and future manpower requirements of the State while remaining globally competitive’.

Furthermore, the Kaduna State Government is particular about ensuring that indigent students (poor and needy) have equal access to quality education as a leveler to prosperity.

The Kaduna State Government is determined that only the needy benefits from this type of scholarship. Whoever applies for this scholarship must be ready and willing to provide information on Tax Identification Number (TIN) and Biometric Verification Number (BVN). Applicants with properties must be willing to provide same where available.

This scholarship entails payment of tuition fees and N10,000 monthly for upkeep.

Successful candidates must maintain a minimum CGPA of 3.0 at all times. Successful Candidates should see this as a great leveler that will improve the economic wellbeing of themselves and their family upon graduation. C. LOCAL SCHOLARSHIP FOR HEALTH RELATED COURSES

Kaduna State Government in it's quest towards achieving one of the education sector's term of reference of improving access to quality and inclusive education with specific emphasis to health related courses has entered into a partnership with Kaduna State University (KASU), considering that the university’s Faculty of Medicine has been accredited. Considering the huge resources spent on training Nurses and Medical Doctors in different countries including the United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates, Hungary, Uganda, India, Germany and Cuba; the State Government has decided to begin the redirection of its huge foreign exchange investment towards the development of KASU’s medical school facilities.

The Kaduna State Government is interested in giving equal opportunity for access to excellent education to its teeming youth who demonstrate excellent academic credentials.  This scholarship entails payment of tuition fees and N20,000 monthly for upkeep. Successful candidates must maintain a minimum CGPA of 3.5 at all times.

The slots available for scholarship are 
  • MBBS(Medicine and Surgery) - 46
  • B.Sc Pharmacy - 55
  • B.N.Sc (Nursing) - 35
  • B.Sc Medical Laboratory Science - 35
  • B.Sc Radiography and Radiation Science - 35
  • D.Physiotherapy - 35

Eligibility

  • Applicants for postgraduate studies should possess a minimum of first degree with second class honours Upper Division.
  • Applicants must be registered full – time students of any recognized and accredited institution of higher learning.
  • All other applicants Undergraduates, Higher National Diploma, National Diploma and Nigeria Certificate in Education must be registered full-time students of any recognized and accredited institution of higher learning in Nigeria.

Requirements

1. MERIT BASED SCHOLARSHIP

a. Merit Based Local Scholarship - Under Graduate

  • Evidence of Grade B in at least five subjects including Mathematics and English and Grade C for the other subjects taken in WASSCE or NECO in one seating and not later than 2017
  • Candidates can apply without a secured admission, but admission must be gotten from an approved university before scholarship award

b. Merit Based Local Scholarship - Post Graduate

  • A graduating CGPA of 4.0 of 5.0 or 3.5 of 4.0 for Masters application
  • A Masters merit for PhD application
  • Candidates can apply without a secured admission, but admission must be gotten from an approved university before scholarship award

c. Merit Based Local Scholarship - Continuing Students

  • A minimum CGPA of 4.0 of 5.0 or 3.5 of 4.0
  • Must be a student who has at least one more semester at the time of disbursement
  • Must not be a spill over student.

d. Scholarship For Six Students To Study Medicine At King David University Of Medical Sciences

2. NEED BASED SCHOLARSHIP

a. Need Based Local Scholarship - Under Graduate

  • This is only for secondary school levers. It is not for students already in any tertiary institution.
  • Minimum Grade C in five subjects including Mathematics and English in WASSCE or NECO in one sitting or Minimum Grade C in seven subjects including Mathematics and English in WASSCE or NECO in two sittings and not later than 2017
  • Candidates can apply without a secured admission, but admission must be gotten from an approved university before scholarship award
  • ** Make sure your parents (both) urgently get their Tax Certificate immediately
  • If any of your parents is dead, make sure you have his/her death certificate in place of their Tax Certificate
  • If any of your parents is a peasant or housewife in any of the urban or rural areas, make sure they get a tax certificate even if they earn as low as N100. Tax offices are in every local government area in Nigeria

b. Need Based Local Scholarship - Post Graduate

  • A graduating second class lower degree or 2.5 of 4.0 for Masters application
  • A Masters merit for PhD application
  • Candidates can apply without a secured admission, but admission must be gotten from an approved university before scholarship award
  • ** Make sure your parents (both) urgently get their Tax Certificate immediately
  • If any of your parents is dead, make sure you have his/her death certificate in place of their Tax Certificate
  • If any of your parents is a peasant or housewife in any of the urban or rural areas, make sure they get a tax certificate even if they earn as low as N100. Tax offices are in every local government area in Nigeria

c. Need Based Local Scholarship - Registered Nurse

  • Minimum Grade C in five subjects including Mathematics and English in WASSCE or NECO in two sitting

3. LOCAL SCHOLARSHIP FOR HEALTH RELATED COURSES.

1. Must have chosen Kaduna State University as choice of institution
2. JAMB score of 200
3. UTME subject combination to include English Language, Biology, Chemistry and Physics
4. Five 'O' Level credit passes at not more than 2 sitting to include English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics

Method Of Application

Application forms should be completed online as follows: –

        Candidates are advised to make only one entry as multiple entries will be disqualified. After completing the form online, the printed copy should be submitted to the scholarship Board with the following documents:
        • Admission Letter
        • Academic Certificates
        • Birth Certificate/Declaration of Age
        • Letter of indigenization or Citizenship
        • 2 passports with your name written at the back and signed by you
        • Current student’s Payment Slip,
