2020 TRCN PQE Registration Form: Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) Professional Qualifying Examination (PQE) Registration Form, Fees, Application Guidelines, Examination Date, Time and Venue for 2020 April Diet Examinations.

Latest Update: The Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria, TRCN, has postponed the professional qualifying examinations slated for April 17and 18, 2020. This is as a result of the shut down of some activities in the country due to the Coronavirus outbreak.
A new date(s) would be communicated to candidates as soon as the situation returns to normal.

This is to inform our noble teachers that the registration for 2020 next batch diet Professional qualifying Examination (PQE) by Teachers registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) is in progress.

Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) is a department under the auspices of THE FEDERAL MINISTRY OF EDUCATION charged with the responsibility of licensing teachers in the teaching field of the country.

Who can be licensed? Only holders of NCE, PGDE, B.Sc(Ed), B.Ed, M.ed and PhD certifications who are currently teaching or would teach in private or public schools of any type or level in Nigeria.

ANNUAL DUES PROCEDURES

Annual dues are to be paid at any Commercial Bank and the teller taken to TRCN office for documentation.

LICENSE RENEWAL 

A teacher is required to renew his/her license every three (3) years. However he/she must have paid his/her annual dues consecutively for those three (3) years for his/her license to be renewed. Other conditions expected before a teachers license is renewed include:
a. Good conduct.
b. Earning of credit units stipulated for professional development in the TRCN Mandatory Continuing Professional Development (MCPD) Manual.
c. Regular participation in TRCN membership activities.

UPGRADING

A teacher who earns higher qualification can change his/her membership grade (e.g. from B to A) by visiting TRCN office to complete a standadized upgrading form. Such a teacher will also pay the difference in the registration fee between the old and new grade.

GROUNDS FOR DE-REGISTRATION

TRCN Act CAP T3 of 2004 stipulates that a registered teacher may be de-registered on several grounds which include:a. Forgery of registration documents and process.
b. Conviction by the Teachers Tribunal for the breach of professional conduct and related offences.
c. Conviction by court of law for criminal offence.
d. Death.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

  • (Photocopies, 2 copies each)
  • Statement of result or Certificate
  • Birth Certificate /Declaration of age
  • Change of name certificate(If applicable)
  • Passport photograph(Any background)

METHOD OF APPLICATION

To obtain the form,Candidates must do the following:
-Generate 2 separate PINs for payment(Registration and Annual Due) through Remita.
-The Remita codes are used for payment in any commercial bank.
-The form is obtained from the TRCN Office with all documents of previous payment(Remita printout for Registration and Annual Due,and Bank Teller slips for Registration and Annual Due)
-The form is attended to and submitted along with the required personal documents.

1. Generate a RRR(TSA) remitta pin in your name and email in favour of TRCN.


2. Print out remita from cyber or copy out from your phone and visit any nearest commercial bank to make the above payment.

3. Proceed now to TRCN OFFICES Nationwide with: Credentials photocopies,2 passports and bank teller of payment printout.

4. You will be given forms to fill and issued an official receipt and an exam slip for the PQE exam which will qualify you for the full licensed certificate and licensed ID card in order for you to operate in any school in Nigeria.

FACTS ABOUT TRCN

  • The Professional Qualifying Examination holds twice every year (Traditionally in June and October on dates to be decided by the TRCN body)
  • Examination registration is done on the regular TRCN form for registration. The acknowledgement part of the form acts as Examination Admission Card with passport duly stamped by TRCN. Candidates must ensure they collect this card upon registration and present it at the Examination Centre.
  • The exam holds simultaneously in all state capitals in the country and FCT. Special Centres can be created and authorized by TRCN.
  • The format of the Examination is Objective Questions with multiple choice answers.
  • On the examination day,candidates are to present themselves at the centre for screening by 8 am.
  • The PASS-MARK for the PQE is 50%. It qualifies candidates to proceed on proper registration.
  • Candidates who score below 50% have 2 more chances left to RE-SIT. Further failure attracts a minimum of one year probation. Such candidates are to undertake refresher courses before registering for the PQE. A re-sit fee is paid in this regard.

DEADLINE / CLOSING DATE

Registration for 2020 TRCN qualifying Examination for April Batch is in progress. Registration might be closed on 31st March, 2020 or 1st Week of April, 2020.
