UG School of Nursing & Midwifery Appoints 1st Substantive Dean

University of Ghana (UG) Appoints Prof. Lydia Aziato, as the First Substantive Dean for the School of Nursing and Midwifery (SoNM).


Lydia Aziato replaced Prof Ernestina Donkor, as Acting Dean from 2017 to 2019 and with her attainment of the rank of Associate Professor, she has now been appointed as the substantive Dean by the council of UG.

A communique issued yesterday indicates that the council considered and approved her appointment during its meeting held on July 15.
With the appointment of Lydia, UG has gotten its first Dean of SoNM, since it was granted a school status in 2003.

Prof. Lydia Aziato is described as a nurse par excellence, a trailblazer, a model nurse and a mentor to many. Her appointment is said to have attracted much excitements in the nursing and midwifery profession as some practitioners say she possesses the necessary skills to move the SoNM forward.
