The Lagos State University (LASU) Management Disassociates itself from Fake News and Rumors Making Rounds on the Internet Concerning a Law Student who Died while Reading for Examination.
The attention of the Lagos State University Authority has been drawn to a post by popular blogging site, Instablog9ja, which claimed that a certain Hilary, alleged to be a Law Student of Lagos State University allegedly died at the Faculty of Law common room while reading for his examination.On the matter, we hereby state categorically that:
1. No student of the University died reading for examination or on any account whatsoever.
2. It is untrue that the Vice Chancellor ordered the closure of the common room as a result of the said incident.
3. We request that Instablog9ja, the primary source of the fake news do a corrigendum on the story on their platform to set the records straight.
We urge our students, parents and the general public to disregard the fake news just as members of the society are advised to contact the University to verify news of this nature before spreading it.
