The Governing Council of the Adeyemi College of Education (ACEONDO) Has Appointed Dr. Ajigbade Ikuejube as the New Deputy Provost of the College.
The Governing Council, Adeyemi College of Education Ondo, has approved the appointment of a new Deputy Provost for the institution.He is Dr. Ajigbade Ikuejube, a lecturer in the Department of History, School of Arts and Social Sciences in the College. Until his appointment, he was the Dean, School Degree Studies.
The information is contained in a letter dated September 10, 2019 and signed by the Registrar, who is also Secretary to the Council, Mrs. Olufisayo Fakorede, who stated that the appointment, which would be for a period of two years, would start from 29th August, 2019 and end by 28th August, 2021.

He began his primary school education at the U.N.A Primary school, Ojumole also in Ilaje Local Government Area, between 1974-1978, where he exhibited academic excellence and earned double promotion.
Upon the completion of his primary education, he gained admission into Community Grammar School, Ugbonla, now renamed Cherubim and Seraphim Academy, Ugbonla between 1978-1980. He thereafter went to Happy City College, Ayetoro, also in Ilaje Local Government between 1980-1983, where he finished his Senior Secondary School education.
He had his first experience as a classroom teacher, when he got a job at two different secondary schools, namely Community Grammar School, Idi-Ogba, 1983-1984 and Community High School, Obe-Idapo, 1985-1986 respectively, where he taught for two years, before proceeding to the then Ondo State University, Ado-Ekiti now Ekiti State University, between 1986-1990, where he graduated with flying colours and awarded Bachelor of Arts degree in History.
The new Deputy Provost, later went for the one -year mandatory National Youth Service Corp Scheme in Imo State, where he was posted to Girls Secondary School, Orlu between 1990-1991.
In quest for additional knowledge, Dr. Ikuejube, went to the Nigeria's Premier University, The University of Ibadan, where he obtained Masters of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy in History and Conflict Studies in 1993 and 2012 respectively.
In addition, the new Deputy Provost also obtained Certificate in Peace Studies, Computer Science as well as Postgraduate Diploma in Education, Theology and Master Degree in Peace and Conflict Studies.
As an outstanding scholar, Dr. Ajigbade Ikuejube, has received several academic scholarships awards, among which are the prestigious Gulf Oil University Scholarship award and the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Postgraduate scholarship award.
He is a member of several reputable professional bodies and associations which include Historical Society of Nigeria; History Teachers’ Association of Nigerian Colleges of Education (HISTANCE); Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) as well as Nigerian Cultural Studies Networks (NCSN) and the Society for Peace Studies and Practice (SPSP).
As an educationist of repute and prolific writer, Dr. Ajigbade Ikuejube, has contributed with distinction in several academic works published in numerous learner books and journals. In further demonstration of his dexterity, and love for educational advancement, he has to his credit, 76 publications comprising of six authored books, 15 edited books, 33 chapter contributions to books as well as 21 articles in journals and one monograph.
He is widely travelled and has attended more than 28 conferences within and outside Nigeria.
Since joining the services of the College in 1994, Dr. Ajigbade Ikuejube has made valuable contributions to advancement of knowledge in the Institution. In demonstration of academic prowess, he presented the 2nd Adeyemi College of Education Inaugural Lecture where he spoke on the topic entitled: " Historicizing Ethnic Conflict in Nigeria", and gave solutions into how conflict between ethnic groups could be perfectly resolved in the light of the understanding and implementation of historical facts within historical context and origin.
He is the author of a History book- "Contemporary History of Ondo kingdom, which exposes interplay between conditions, events, personalities, ideas and inter-group relations in Ondo Kingdom. The highly stimulating and intellectually loaded book, has gained prominence, not only among history scholars, but has witnessed high demand by the people of Ondo kingdom, who sees it as repository of knowledge and highly educative.
Also as a teacher of note, Dr. Ajigbade Ikuejube is highly regarded as a role model by students, and recognised as one of the most disciplined and humble members of academic staff.
In his 25 years of teaching in the College, he has risen through the ranks to attain the status of Chief Lecturer in year 2010. He has rendered numerous services to Adeyemi College of Education community and outside the College.
Some of the areas where he has served the institution meritoriously include Head, Department of History, 2001-2005; Protocol and Logistics Committee, History Teachers Association of Nigeria Colleges of Education Annual National Conference, 2000; Vice- Chairman, Publication and Seminar Committee of the Department of History, 2007-2010 and Chairman, School of Arts and Social Sciences Book Project Committee, 2010-2012 and Dean, School of Arts and Social Sciences, 2012-2016 and School of Degree Studies since 2016.
Others were Chairman, School of Arts and Social Sciences Vetting Committee, 2007-2011; Chairman, National Conference of the School of Arts and Social Sciences, 2011-2012; Vice-Dean, School of Arts and Social Sciences, 2010-2012; Member, Postgraduate Studies and Research Committee, 2009-2010 and Member, College Time-Table Committee, 2010-2012.
Dr. Ajigbade Ikuejube also served as Chairman and Member of various College Committee Such as; College Students Disciplinary Committee, 2010-2012; College Academic Board since 2010; Committee of Dean's since 2012; College Management Committee since 2012; School of Arts and Social Sciences Board of Studies, 2012-2016; School of Arts and Social Sciences Board of Examiners, 2012-2016.
In addition, the new Deputy Provost also rendered services to the College as Chairman, Ad-hoc Committee on Reemployment and proper placement of staff of the College Demonstration School, 2015; Chairman, College Junior Administrative/Technical Staff Review for 2015; Acting Chairman, College Research Committee, 2014-2016; Acting Chairman, College Space and Accommodation Committee, 2014-2016; Acting Chairman, Boarding Committee, 2014-2016; Chairman, Inaugural Lecture Committee since 2015 and Chairman, Committee of Deans and Directors, 2014-2016.
Dr. Ajigbade Ikuejube was directed by the Governing Council between November 17 to November 30, 2014 to oversee the affairs of Adeyemi College of Education Ondo, when the Provost was away on oversea trip.
Apart from rendering valuable contributions to the College, Dr. Ajigbade Ikuejube has also replicated same outside the College community. He is Area Pastor-in-Charge of Power Arena, Redeemed Christian Church of God; Chairman, University of Medical Sciences, Ondo (UNIMED) Parents’ Executive Council since 2018 and President, University of Medical Sciences, Ondo (UNIMED) stakeholders since 2018.
Dr. Ajigbade Ikuejube who has since assumed duties, has had most enviable track record of success in administration and academics. He is happily married to Mrs. Blessing Ikuejube and they are blessed with three children.
