UNIZIK Governing Council Dismisses ''Dr'' Ekemezie, Withdraws Certificate

Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) Governing Council Sacks / Dismisses Senior Lecturer ''DR'' Ekemezie Over Allegations of Plagiarism, Forgery of Certificates and Bribery.

The University Governing Council at its 8th Emergency meeting held on Thursday, 10th October, 2019 considered the report of the Joint Council/Senate Disciplinary Committee that investigated the following:

i) Authenticity of the Postgraduate certificates allegedly issued to “Dr.” Ekemezie by Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka

ii) Duration of studies leading to the award of the PGD and Ph.D degrees

iii) If “Dr.” Ekemezie was a full time lecturer of Paul University while at the same time a staff of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka

iv) Plagiarism

Council, after exhaustively considering the report, found that:

i) Mr. Ekemezie’s M.Sc’s result with Reg. No. 2004351001P with effective date of 24th November, 2005 was not issued by Nnamdi Azikiwe University;

ii) That “Dr.” Ekemezie’s Ph.D result with Reg. No. 2007547004P with effective date of 3rd August, 2009 was issued in error, arising from false information he supplied the Postgraduate School;

iii) The case of plagiarism against him was established; and
iv) While in employment of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, “Dr.” Ekemezie had full-time employments in other institutions/organizations.

In the light of the above, the council decided as follows:

i) That “Dr.” Ekemezie be dismissed from the University with effect from 10th October, 2019
ii) “Dr.” Ekemezie is directed to hand over all University property in his possession to the Head, Department of Pure and Industrial Chemistry.
