LASU Professor Wins €19,000 Alexander Von Humboldt Research Grant

Lagos State University (LASU) Professor in the Department of Microbiology, Faculty of Science, Prof. Kabiru Olusegun Akinyemi Wins €19,977.72 from the Alexander Von Humboldt Foundation (AVH), Germany, for Purchase of Equipment to Conduct an Approved Research Proposal of Public Health Importance.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Olarewaju Adigun Fagbohun, SAN, NPOM, has congratulated a Professor in the Department of Microbiology, Faculty of Science, Prof. Kabiru Olusegun Akinyemi, on receiving the award of a grant of €19,977.72 by the Alexander Von Humboldt Foundation (AVH), Germany, for the purchase of equipment to conduct an approved research proposal of public health importance. Prof. Akinyemi is a former Acting Dean, Students Affairs Division of the University.

A congratulatory letter signed by the Deputy Registrar, Vice Chancellor 's Office, Mrs Anat Adesunkanmi, on behalf of the Vice Chancellor reads, in part: "the grant is a clear manifestation of your determination to create a niche for yourself and also give visibility to the University through research. The Vice Chancellor enjoins you to continue to blaze the trail and bring honour to the University through your research works."

Recall that in 2017, Prof. Akinyemi also won the Alexander von Humboldt Equipment Grant worth Twenty Five Thousand Pounds (€25,000) to purchase a Real-Time PCR Machine for the University.
