Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUTMINNA) Shuts Down Institution and Academic Activities Over Scare of Second Wave of Corona Virus (COVID-19) Pandemic.
The management of the Federal University of Technology Minna (FUTMINNA) has directed that the institution be closed with effect from Monday, December 21, 2020, to Sunday, January 10, 2021, due to the second wave of the covid-19 pandemic.
In compliance with the directive of the Niger State Government that all public and private schools be closed to curtail the second wave of the covid-19 pandemic, the Management of the Federal University of Technology, Minna has directed that the institution be closed with effect from Monday, December 21, 2020, to Sunday, January 10, 2021.
The directive was contained in a letter issued today, Friday, December 18, 2020, by the Registrar of the University, Mr Amos Nmadu Kolo.
The letter reads in part:
Management at an emergency meeting held on Friday, December 18, 2020, has directed all staff of the University to stay at home with effect from Monday, December 21, 2020, to Sunday, January 10, 2021.
“Staff of the University Security Services and Health Services who are on essential duties, are to be around to provide the required services. Security personnel are to ensure all-round surveillance of both Campuses for the security of the University properties during the period.
People entering the University for any purpose including religious purposes should fully obey the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC)’s Covid-19 safety protocols”, the statement stated.
The statement further advised members of staff and the University community to stay safe by observing all precautionary measures on Covid-19 pandemic as provided by the Federal and State Governments.
