The Akwa Ibom State Government has approved academic intervention Radio programme for JSS 3 and SSS 3 students as a platform to receive lectures to bridge the gap created by the school closure over the COVID-19 pandemic.

The programme which is called “School on Radio” will be broadcast on the Radio Service of Akwa Ibom Broadcasting Corporation, AKBC 90.5FM, Uyo and would run for 42 weeks, throughout the duration of school closure due to Coronavirus.

The laudable initiative, which is the first by any state in Nigeria in this season of Covid-19 is to be aired on the state owned Akwa Ibom Broadcasting Corporation, AKBC, Radio 90.5FM, for SS 3 and JS 3 students preparing for their final examinations.

According to the Commissioner of Information, Sir Charles Udoh, who made the time table public in Uyo, the aim of the school on Radio Programme is to keep the students refreshed and alive to their studies while staying at home as formal schools remain shut due to the lockdown occasioned by the ravaging COVID-19 pandemic.

SS3 students will have the opportunity of taking lessons in English Language, Civic Education, Economics/Commerce and Government while those in JS3 will receive lessons in English Language, Basic Science, Civic Education, and Vocational studies.

Parents, Caregivers and Students are expected to reciprocate this kind gesture of government by showing great enthusiasm in tuning in for the lessons as scheduled.
