Zamfara State Scholarship Board (ZSSB) Highlights Twenty One (21) Achievements Recorded by the Board within One (1) Year Under the Leadership of the Leadership of Honorable Luqman Majidadi.

ACHIEVEMENTS RECORDED IN ONE YEAR AT THE ZAMFARA STATE SCHOLARSHIP BOARD (ZSSB) UNDER THE LEADERSHIP OF HON. Luqman Majidadi

1. Introduction of fortnightly management meetings to ensure transparency, accountability and proper coordination of the Board's activities.

2. Centralization of board’s registry to ensure safe custody and easy retrieval of offices files and other essential documents.

3. Development of an operational manual and in-house workshop to upgrade staff capabilities on their responsibilities.

4. Developed the first ever medium term sector strategy and work plan for the State Scholarship Board.

5. Development of the Zamfara State Online Scholarship Application Portal for the first time.

6. Conducting the first ever merit based selection of scholars for overseas studies.

7. Ongoing restructuring and support to the apex students’ body (NUZAMSS) to make it an ideal training ground for students’ leaders.

8. Hosted 3 sessions of Google digital skills training for over 500 participants comprising students, lecturers, and civil servants in Zamfara State.

9. Provided financial and logistic supports to several youth and students’ organizations.

10. Granted need based Scholarship assistance to about fifty students.

11. Granted full undergraduate to scholarships for visually-impaired students to study at Bayero University Kano and one partial scholarship at FCE(T) Gusau for student with special needs.

12. Full establishment of the Student Affairs Department and staffing of the Planning Department.

13. Introduction of proper assets inventory register to ensure proper custody and tracking of the board’s assets.

14. Ensuring adequate staff welfare with the establishment and capitalization of ZSSB Staff Cooperative Society.

15. Overseas sponsorship for 200 students after a competitive merit based solution to study in China, Cyprus, India and Sudan.

16. Setting up the Board's ICT Unit with internet Wi-Fi connection, printer, photocopier and trained operators as well as social media engagement with students and educational stakeholders.

17. Introduction of staff productivity award with presentation of three motorcycles so far to three beneficiaries.

18. Development of the Zamfara State Scholarship Board draft laws in partnership with the State Ministry of Justice for passage by the state House of Assembly (The state has been using the Sokoto State version dating back to 1970s).

19. Establishment of partnerships with relevant public and private bodies with a view to obtaining external support for Scholarship Board activities in Zamfara State.

20. Fact finding visit to ascertain actual indebtedness of the state to Alhikma University Ilorin and Crescent University Abeokuta which has been completed and awaiting Executive decision from His Excellency.

21. Relocation from the old office located in JB Yakubu Secretariat complex to a more spacious and serene office building in the old Commissioner's quarters Gusau.
