Federal Poly Ilaro Resumption Date 2019/2020 [Post-COVID-19]

Federal Polytechnic Ilaro (ILARO POLY) Resumption Date for the Commencement of Second (2nd) Semester Academic Activities for the 2019/2020 Academic Session.

Sequel to the prevailing peaceful environment within the Polytechnic, the Rector has directed that academic activities should resume with effect from Tuesday, Oct 27, 2020.

The guidelines for the reopening and modalities for continuous academic activities are contained in a circular released by the registrar Mrs. A. F. Osore as reproduced below:


Sequel to the receipt of the letter from Executive Secretary, National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), Dr. M. A. Kazaure premised on the Presidential Task Team (PTF) assertion on the significant decline in the reproduction number (R-value) for COVID-19 in Nigeria, the Federal Ministry of Education has directed that arrangements for immediate resumption of academic activities be done.

Accordingly, at the joint meeting of the Academic Board and the Polytechnic Management Committee held today, Wednesday, September 30, 2020 the Report of the Post Covid-19 Campus Reopening Implementation Committee was approved for the resumption of Academic activities for second Semester 2019/2020 on Tuesday, Oct 27, 2020.

Other highlights for resumption are as follows:
1. Strict adherence to Covid-19 protocols through social distancing, washing of hands, use of hand sanitizers, wearing of face masks and observance of safety protocols in line with best practices;
2. All Staff and Students are to come into the Polytechnic through the East Campus
Gate and ensure passage through the pedestrian Disinfectant Booths already equipped with Infrared thermometers and chemical fumigation devices;
3. Students in the Polytechnic Halls of Residence are to resume on Tuesday, Oct 27, 2020 into their Halls of Residence. They are to put their luggages at the Pavilion ground for fumigation. They must ensure that they remove all food items and other valuables to avoid consequences thereof; and
4. While motorists are required to enter the Campus through the Beautiful Gate (West Campus) for temperature screening and hand sanitizer.
