UMCA Theological College, Ilorin Sub-Degrees (Diploma & Certificates) Admission Form, Courses, Requirements, Duration, Application Guidelines and Deadline for 2021/2022 Academic Session.

Applications are hereby invited from qualified candidates for admission into our various Sub-Degrees (Diploma & Certificates) programmes of the UMCA Theological College, Ilorin for the 2021/2022 academic session.

Admission Requirements

1. Diploma in Theology

a. Four Credits in O’ Level including English Language.
b. Grade II Certificate with at least Merit.
c. UMCATC Certificate in Theology or its equivalent with a minimum CGPA of 45%.

Graduation Requirements.
a. Complete 60 credit units with a minimum CGPA of 40%
b. Fulfill field Practicum
c. Complete the programme in two and not more than four years. Failure to complete in four years results in termination of studentship.
d. Evidence of Christian Character.

2. Diploma in Theology (Sandwich)

a. Four Credits in O’ Level including English Language.
b. Grade II Certificate with at least Merit.
c. UMCATC Certificate in Theology or its equivalent with a minimum CGPA of 45%.

Graduation Requirements
a. Complete 60 credit units with a minimum CGPA of 45%
b. Fulfill field Practicum
c. Complete the programme in four and not more than five years. Failure to complete in five years results in termination of studentship
d. Evidence of Christian Character.

3. Diploma in Church Music

i. General
a) The candidate must be a Christian.
b) A Senior Secondary school Certificate (SSCE, GCE, NECO, WASC) ‘O’ Level with a minimum of five credits including English and Mathematics at maximum of two sittings.
c) A Grade II Teacher’s certificate (TC II) with credit in five subjects, two of which must be relevant to the course the candidate wishes to offer. Credit/merit in English Language.
d) For candidates wishing to offer courses in Vocation and Technical Education, R.S.A, or City and Guild Intermediate Certificate with the Federal Craft Training Certificate with credit/merit in the least four subjects, are acceptable qualification.
e) Associateship Certificate Education awarded by an approved institution in Nigeria or abroad is also acceptable qualifications.
f) Successful candidates in completion of a program organized by a credible music institution would also be qualified for admission.
g) All candidates wishing to be considered for admission must Purchase a form in the college and be ready to write an entrance Exam and interview.

ii. Additional Admission Requirement
a) Candidates who do not have credit in Music should be subjected to aptitude test.
b) Candidates may be admitted if they possess credit at the O/L GCE/SSC/WASC/NECO, which may include a pass grade in music at a level not below grade III of any of the following institutions:
a. The Royal Schools of music (ABRSM)
b. Trinity College of music (LTC)
c. Junior Secondary School (JSS)
d. Music Society of Nigeria (MUSON)
Waiver: A pass in Mathematics at O/L GCE or SSCE is acceptable.

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS
Distribution of minimum of credits required for Graduation for:
Single Major
Theology/Education – 30 Credit Units
General Course – 6 Credit Units
Teaching Practice – 4 Credit Units
Music Course – 32 Credit Units
Project – 4 Credit Units
Total for graduation – 76 Credits
 

4. Certificate in Theology

1. Primary School or its equivalent
2. Junior Secondary School or SSCE attempted with 2 credits.
3. Graduate of Vernacular Bible School with proficiency in English Language.
4. Grade II attempted.
5. Pass College’s Entrance Examination and interview.
6. Three referees’ reports, one of which should be from the candidate’s pastor.

Graduation Requirements.
1. Complete a minimum of 90 credit units with minimum of CGPA of 40%.
2. Successful completion of practicum.
3. Evidence of Christian character
