Katsina State Ministry of Education Bans Schools from Creating and Using WhatsApp Groups as a Platform for Learning.
Latest Update: The Katsina State Government has reacted to the news on the ban of whatsapp groups and other social media platforms by staff of secondary schools in the state.
According to a statement released on Wednesday, December 9, by the office of the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on New Media, said the memo was in respect of a particular zone of the Ministry of Education.

The issue of abolishing WhatsApp groups in our schools is misconstrued
It is aimed to curtail insubordination between school authority and staffers
However, we wish to make it emphatically clear that staff will be held responsible for whatever he or she writes on social media platforms

The Katsina State Ministry of Education has informed all principals to direct the various group admin in their respective schools to wipe out the so-called school WhatsApp.
The abolishing of this group becomes necessary due to the various posting being made which create problems and insubordination between the school authority and staff
Principals should also remind their staff about the Government Circular that prohibit any civil servant from commenting positively or negatively on Government activities on Facebook or Whatsapp.
