Zamfara State Government Orders the Shut Down of all Boarding Schools After over 300 Students were Abducted by Suspected Boko Haram Insurgents in Katsina State.
Zamfara state governor, Bello Matawalle has ordered the shutting down of all the state's boarding schools that share borders with Katsina and Sokoto states. This is coming after over 300 students were abducted by suspected Boko Haram insurgents in Katsina state,
The State Commissioner of Education, Ibrahim Abdullahi disclosed this to newsmen in Gusau, the state capital. He stressed that the move became necessary in order to avert incidences of kidnap.
According to him, the state government do not want what happened in Katsina to happen in Zamfara. He further stated that all the Principals of the affected schools have been directed to ensure the immediate closure of the schools.
He listed the affected schools to include Government Secondary Schools in Zurmi, GSS Birnin Magaji, (boarding), G.A.S.S Zurmi (boarding), and G.G.S.S Moriki (boarding).
Others are Science Secondary School Shinkafi (boarding), Science Secondary School, Dansadau (boarding), Science Secondary School, Bukkuyum (boarding), G.D. S. S Nassarawa Mailayi (day), G.D.S.S Gusami (day), and G.D.S.S Gurbin Bore (day).
