Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana (NMC Ghana) Issues New Policy on Renewal of Professional Identification Numbers (PIN's) and Auxiliary Identification Numbers (AIN's) for all Nurses and Midwives.

LATEST UPDATE: NURSING AND MIDWIFERY COUNCIL EXTENDS PIN/AIN RENEWAL DEADLINE
As the Corona virus (COVID-19) pandemic continues to disrupt businesses, operations and activities in Ghana and around the world, Management of the Council deems it necessary to extend the PIN/AIN renewal deadline to: Wednesday, March 31, 2021

1. Practitioners are respectfully requested to note that, as announced in January 2021, the new policy provides that:

a. All practitioners must renew their license annually by 31st January each year.

b. The validity of the PIN/AIN cards have been extended from three to five years.

c. All PIN/AIN cards with the 3-year validity will cease to be valid after March 31, 2021

2. There will be no further extension of this deadline (Wednesday, March 31, 2021).

Therefore, we encourage all Nurse Assistants, Nurses and Midwives who were unable to meet the initial deadline of January 31, 2021 to renew their PIN/AIN as soon as possible.

NMC Ghana PIN & AIN Renewal Guidelines & Deadline 2021


The Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana wishes to inform Nurse Assistants, Nurses and Midwives that effective January, 2021. All Professional Identification Numbers (PINs) and Maxillary Identification Numbers (AINs) shall be renewed by January 31st and expire on December 31st annually.


Nurse Assistants, Nursses and Midwives should therefore take note of the following:

  • PIN/AIN cards that were renewed on or before June 30th, 2020 will attract full payment of fees for PIN/AIN renewal by 31st March, 2021.
  • PIN/AIN cards that were renewed on or after July 1st, 2020 will attract half payment of fees for PIN/AIN renewal by 31st March, 2021.


Please note that under section 73 of the Health Professions Regulatory Bodies Act 2013 (ACT 857), it is an offense to practice without a valid license.
