Delta State Ministry for Basic and Secondary Education Guidelines for the Resumption / Re-Opening of all Lesson Centers in the State.

The Delta State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education has published the guidelines for the resumption/reopening of all private lesson centers in the state.

Following the closure of private lesson centers in Delta State by the state government, the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education has released new guidelines for the reopening of the centers.

The Commissioner in charge of the ministry, Mr. Patrick Ukah, in a statement issued in Asaba on Thursday, March 18, said that the temporary closure was aimed at carrying out effective regularization of their activities and ensure sanity.

Mr. Ukah gave the conditions for reopening to include; readiness of operators to ensure that only candidates preparing for the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB)/IJMB examinations attend the lessons during the morning sessions, between the hours of 9 am-1 pm Mondays to Saturdays.

Enrollment at the lesson centers must be based on the centers' carrying capacities, adherence to COVID-19 protocols, and the use of appropriate curriculum in teaching and learning at the centers, among others.

He emphasized that Senior School Certificate lessons should be strictly evening based between the hours of 2:30 pm and 5: 30 pm, except on Saturdays and Sundays, adding that the operators of the lesson centers must register with the ministry with their full identities and profiles.

The lesson center operators were enjoined to visit the Inspectorate Department of the Ministry with effect from March 19, 2021, to collect forms and apply for recognition in order to qualify them for reopening. Also, lesson centers that need to run as private schools should apply to the ministry for appropriate actions and registration.
