JAMB Bans Generation of RRR in Offices Nationwide

Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Has Placed a Ban on the Generation of Remita Retrieval Reference (RRR) Number in all the JAMB Offices Nationwide to Protect Candidates from Extortion by Fraudulent Cyber-Cafes.

As part of measures aimed at protecting the interests of candidates, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has mnounced that as from Thursday, 15th April 2021, there would be no more generation of RRR by candidates at JAMB offices nationwide.

It should be noted that since no cash is received at JAMB Offices, RRR is generated for candidates to take to banks for cash payment outside the office premises.

Under the new arrangement, POS will be provided and candidates will be required to come with a valid ATM for payment of the N700 centre fee.

However, Resident banks tellers, where available, are also allowed within JAMB offices to take cash payments from candidates.

The Board took this decision to protect hapless candidates from being extorted by fraudulent cybercafe operators and other non-actors in the registration value chain of the Board.

The Board reviewed its registration system. It also took a holistic look at all its operational processes to address the unwholesome exploitation of innocent candidates hence its resolve that all financial transactions at its offices across the nation will be made via bank card payment (ATM) or Resident bank teller.

By implication, all candidates required to perform any business in the Board's offices nationwide must come with valid debit or credit cards except where Resident bank tellers are available.
