UI PG Halls of Residence Application Guidelines 2020/2021

University of Ibadan (UI) Postgraduate Halls of Residence / Hostel Accommodation Request Application Fee, Guidelines and Deadline for 2020/2021 Academic Session.

The management of the University of Ibadan (UI) wishes to inform all Postgraduate Students that Halls of residence request is now online.


Students are to kindly logon to https://mis.ui.edu.ng/pghalls/ to make a request for their preferred Hall of residence.

UI Postgraduate (PG) Halls of Residence Application Fees & Guidelines 2020/2021


Postgraduate students are hereby adviced to chose a preferred hall of residence after reading the brief on the halls below.

Tafawa Balewa Hall (Mixed)

This hall is located along the El-Kanemi Road, behind Sultan Bello Hall and overlooking the Nnamdi Azikiwe Hall. Tafawa Balewa Hall is UI’s first postgraduate hall of residence. It was founded in 1968 and named after Sir Alhaji Tafawa Balewa, the first Prime Minister of Independent Nigeria (1960 - 1966), and the first Visitor to the University of Ibadan as an autonomous institution. Tafawa Balewa Hall is exclusively for male and female PhD candidates.

The hall has a capacity of 207 male and female residents spread across five blocks. Females occupy blocks A (single rooms) and E (single and double rooms), while blocks B, C, D are for males.

Accommodation Fees:

  • Single rooms: N120,000.00
  • Double rooms: N70,000.00

Abdusalami Abubakar Hall (Mixed)

This hall is located along Barth Road, almost opposite Queen Idia Hall. The magnificent edifice was kindly donated to the University in 1998 by the Visitor, Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar, on the occasion of UI’s 50th Foundation Anniversary. The project was executed completed in record time and commissioned by President Olusegun Obasanjo on 2nd February, 2001. The Abdusalami Abubakar Hall houses 700 residents in single, double and triple rooms. It is designed to accommodate local and international students. This hall prides itself with offering the most spacious student accommodation on campus, complemented by a large field for games. It is a home away from home!

Accommodation fees:

  • Single rooms: N140,000.00
  • Double rooms: N70,000. 00
  • Triple rooms: N50,000.00

Obafemi Awolowo Hall (Female, Undergraduate and Postgraduate)

This hall is located off Barth Road, adjacent to the University Stadium. Obafemi Awolowo Hall was established in 1983 and, with a capacity of one thousand and eight hundred students, it is the largest in sub-Sahara Africa. Three blocks (A, B, and I) are reserved for postgraduate students, in single and double rooms. The Reading Rooms are conducive for study and there is a standard cafeteria, which provides healthy meals. A basket ball court, an Amazon Garden and an Ornamental Fish Pond are other attractions.

Accommodation Fees:

Single rooms (Doctoral Students only): N50,000.00
Double rooms (Other postgraduate students: N50,000.00

Adetowun Ogunsheye Hall (Female Only)

Adetowun Ogunsheye Postgraduate Hall of residence is a newly built female hall located behind Queen Idia Hall. It is the only UI Hall of Residence that was commissioned by the very person that the hall is named after, Prof. Adetowun Ogunseye, graduate of UI’s foundation set and Nigeria’s first female professor.

The hall has a capacity of 132 bed spaces in 87 rooms distributed across five blocks. Blocks A and B have 42 single rooms, while Blocks C, D and E have 45 double rooms. Comfort and privacy converge as each room has en suite kitchenette, toilet and bathroom. In addition, each room is independently metered for electricity, thus ensuring that residents personally control their electrical consumption. Ogunsheye Hall is indeed a haven of convenience. We look forward to your residency!

  • Single rooms: N180,000.00
  • Double rooms: N110,000.00

Ayodele Falase Hall (Mixed for College of Medicine Students)

The Ayodele Falase Postgraduate Hall is a new residential facility built to accommodate postgraduate students of the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan (COMUI). Postgraduate students of the 2020/2021 are hereby offered the opportunity of being the Hall’s foundational residents.

Ayodele Falase Postgraduate Hall is located in a quiet environment, surrounded by beautiful natural scenery at the University College Hospital (UCH) campus, just behind the historic Alexander Brown Hall (ABH) and overlooking the Oyo State Secretariat. It is a walking distance from the COMUI, itself is within the precincts of UCH. The Hall has the additional attraction of proximity to the UCH Sports Field.

The Hall is an 87 room facility with a capacity of 132 bed spaces distributed across five blocks, A to E. Blocks A to C have 45 double rooms, while blocks D and E have 42 single rooms. There is a Reading room, a television room, an administrative block, standard cafeteria, Wi-Fi and shopping facilities. There are also hand-washing units for the prevention of infectious diseases.

• Bed, wardrobe and bookshelf
• Reading desk lamp and chair
• Intercom facility
• En suite bathroom, toilet and kitchenette
• Wash sink
• Cupboard space

  • Double rooms: N110,000.00

Alumni Hall (Male Only)

The Alumni Hall is a newly built and freshly donated by the National Alumni Association of UI. It is situated along Ajibode/Sasa axis, near University Distance Learning Centre. The Hall comprises of 54 double rooms with running water, furniture and en suite bathroom, toilet and kitchenette. There is a wash sink and cupboard space.

Accommodation fee:

  • Double rooms: N70,000.00
