Akwa Ibom State Government Has Placed a Ban on Admission of Students over the Age of Twelve (12) into the State Public Secondary Schools.
In a bid to curb the surge of cult-related activities and other social vices in schools, the Akwa Ibom State Government has directed that no child over the age of 12-years should be admitted into public secondary schools in the state.
The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Ini Ememobong, in a statement, said the decision was reached at the State Executive Council meeting held at the Council Chambers, on Thursday, July 8, after prior investigations proved that the high rate of cult activities in public Secondary Schools was caused by over-aged students.
He, however, said any student above the age of 12 with a genuine reason, will have their parents sign an undertaking of good behavior, before being admitted.
