LASU Charges PT Students to Shun Cultism & Be Law Abiding
Lagos State University (LASU) School of Part-Time Studies Holds Orientation Programme for all Newly Admitted Students: VC Charges Newly Admitted Students to Shun Cultism And Be Law Abiding.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji - Bello, mni, has charged the newly admitted students at the University School of Part Time Studies not to disregard the rules and regulations of the institution, to shun cultism and remain law abiding.


Prof. Olatunji - Bello, mni, gave the charge at the Orientation Programme organized by the Directorate for the freshmen at the School of Part Time Studies (SPTS).

The event was held on Friday, 12th August 2022 at the Aderemi Makanjuola Lecture Theatre, Main Campus, Ojo, Lagos.

The Vice Chancellor who was represented by the Dean, Faculty of Management Sciences, Prof. Olasupo Akewushola welcomed and congratulated the newly admitted students for joining the best State University in Nigeria. Her words "...because you are Part Time Student makes you no less a student than the Full Time student. You are going through the same programme, syllabus and will earn the same degree." The VC said.

The Professor of Physiology charged the students to be studious. " ...You are ambassadors of the Lagos State University through your admission into the University." She said.

Prof. Olatunji - Bello, mni, averred that the University been rated second best in Nigeria according to Times Higher Education (THE) world University rankings, culminated from the quality teaching, award - winning research works and robust service delivery. "...all of these were add up to make us what we are. Our lecturers, non - teaching staff are the best." She said.

The Vice Chancellor counseled the new students to shun cultism, indecent dressing, examination malpractices and all other social vices that may truncate their academic sojourn at the University.

Earlier in his speech, the Director, Directorate of School of Part Time Studies, Prof. Dan - Oye Oguntola - Laguda while welcoming the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji - Bello, mni, Members of the University Management, Guests Speakers, Centre for Information, Press and Public Relations (CIPPR) University Multimedia (UMC) and the newly admitted students, informed that the Orientation Programme was the very first of its kind under the leadership of the 9th substantive Vice Chancellor of the University.
Prof. Dan - Oye Laguda assured the students of the commitment and determination of the members of staff (Teaching and Non - Teaching) towards ensuring that their primary objectives are excellently achieve.

He appreciated the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji - Bello, mni and other members of the University Management for their absolute and unwavering support for the Directorate.

The Seven (7) Guest Speakers who presented papers on different topics include; the University Registrar, Mr. Emmanuel Fanu (The System of Administrative Records in the University, Bursar; Mr. Said Babatunde OLAYINKA, FCA, (Your Financial Details In The University), Librarian; Dr. Emmanuel Layi Adebayo (The University Library As The Nerve Centres Of Academic Activities) and the Acting Dean, Students' Affairs Division, Dr. Tajudeen Olumoko (Students Code Of Conduct, Rules & Regulations).
Other Guest Speakers and topics were; Acting Director, Information, Communication Technology (DICT), Prof. 'Toyin Enikuomehin (Rules Guiding Registration, Examination And Roles Of Information Technology In Achieving High Academic Standard), Deputy Registrar, Counselling Unit, Dr. J.O Ayeni (Managing Your Career In The University) and Director, LASU Centre For Response And Prevention Of Sexual & Gender - Based Violence, Dr. Igot Ofem.
