NOUN Enviro Health Sci Dept Gets NUC Full Accreditation
National Open University of Nigeria's (NOUN) Department of Environmental Health Sciences Has Received Full Accreditation from the National Universities Commission (NUC).

The National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) has received full accreditation from the National Universities Commission (NUC) for its Department of Environmental Health Sciences within the Faculty of Health Sciences. This accomplishment highlights the university’s commitment to academic excellence and the provision of top-quality education in the field of environmental health.


In a congratulatory letter addressed to NOUN’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olufemi Peters, the Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Prof. Shehu Usman, expressed his gratitude for the support provided in achieving accreditation. The letter emphasized the essential role played by the university in renovating facilities, procuring laboratory equipment, and building the Environmental Village at Abuja’s model study center.

Prof. Shehu Usman assured the Vice-Chancellor that the Faculty of Health Sciences would continue to work diligently to maintain the full accreditation status of the Department of Environmental Health Sciences and Nursing Sciences. This commitment will ensure that NOUN remains at the forefront of providing high-quality education in these fields.

In a related development, NOUN recently held a round-table discussion to mark its 20th anniversary. The event, titled “NOUN in the Nigeria Higher Education System: Impact, Achievements, and Next Steps,” featured prominent personalities such as Emeritus Prof. Olugbemiro Jegede, a former Vice-Chancellor of NOUN, and Prof. Vincent Ado Tenebe. Participants engaged in a comprehensive examination of NOUN’s journey, impact, and future prospects in the Nigerian higher education system.
