Authorities of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO)
have released the screening and registration guidelines for the 2021/2022 academic
session newly admitted students.
The Freshmen are required to ACCEPT THEIR ADMISSION on JAMB’s portal to enable them print JAMB ADMISSION LETTER.
Latest Update: The attention of the Registrar has been drawn to a purported schedule of screening exercise for the 2021/2022 freshmen by yet to be identified person(s).
The Registrar wishes to inform the general public that the University is yet to release the Screening/Registration timetable for its 2021/2022 freshmen.
Prospective students are therefore advised to disregard the information trending online that FUTO will start its screening exercise by April 12, 2022. Please be guided and always confirm any information by visiting the Admissions Office or the Official University Website.
This is to notify all candidates admitted in the 2021/2022 (merit and supplementary) admissions exercise that the screening and registration will commence on a date to be announced later at the FUTO ICTC and SOBS Hall (1st Floor of the Old SEET Head Building).
According to the University Academic regulation for undergraduate students (2020-2025), section 1, subsection 1.1 (a & b) “registration of candidates is expected to end four weeks (4wks) from the date registration commenced.
Thereafter, late registration may be allowed only in exceptional cases with the special permission of the Registrar in consultation with the schools upon the payment of a fee of N10,000.00. No late registration shall be allowed six weeks after lectures have begun.
If for some genuine reason, a student is not able to return to the campus for registration within the stipulated period, the Registrar must be notified immediately in writing. Subsection 1.1 (f) further provides that “Any student who fails to meet the registration requirements shall be deemed to have voluntarily withdrawn from the university”.
Consequently, all prospective students are to note the following registration guidelines published below:
Candidates admitted in the Merit admissions who have done their 1st phase of screening should proceed with the 2nd phase of registration and collection of green files with the under-listed documents:
Candidates are advised to come with originals and photocopies of their credentials for the exercise.
Candidates should note that COVID-19 Protocol is still in force and therefore are expected to wear their face masks when coming for the exercise.
Candidates admitted for the MBBS programme and SOBS should report at the SOBS Hall, 1st floor on the Old SEET Head building for their registration formalities while others should report at the FUTO ICTC.
All prospective students who have not been screened would undergo both the 1st and 2nd phases of the registration during this Exercise. They should therefore come along with all the necessary documents for the registration as listed in the University Portal.

FUTO Freshers Online Registration Procedures 2021/2022
1. Check Admission StatusPortal Account Verification
- Click on the link ‘Portal’ on the website home page
- Then click on “Verify your Account” to generate portal login details.
- Get account details with the JAMB Registration number as the default username and password.
- Login with your username and password
- Click on “change password” to change your password
- Pay Acceptance Fees
- Login to the Portal portal.futo.edu.ng with your username and password
- Click on “Pay Acceptance” to generate your payment invoice
- Print your invoice and proceed to any bank to pay using your RRR code on the invoice.
- Alternatively, you can make payment using the online payment options with credit/debit cards such as Verve, Visa, MasterCards.
- After successful payment in the bank and online, print FUTO admission letter and Confirmation of admission form.
- Pay Fees
- Login to the portal with your username and password
- Click on “Pay Fees” to generate your payment invoice
- Print your invoice and proceed to any bank for payment.
- Alternatively, you can make payment using the online payment options with credit/debit cards such as Verve, Visa, MasterCards.
- After successful payment in a bank, return to the portal portal.futo.edu.ng and login with your account details to print FUTO school fees e-receipt with the RRR code on the invoice.
- Click the “Pay Fees” menu
- Select the required payment details
- Print the School Fees Receipt
- Portal automatically assigns matriculation number.
- PROFILE DETAILS
- Click on fill profile details.
- Enter the required information on the field.
- Ensure your entry level is entered accurately (Year of admission)
- Click on submit button to complete your profile details.
- Print the profile information slip.
- Complete and print the validity form and acceptance letter.
- CONFIRMATION OF ADMISSIONS/Collection of Green files
- Required documents for the confirmation of admission/Collection of Green files:
- JAMB Result slip printed directly from JAMB’s website
- JAMB Admission Letter printed directly from JAMB’s website
- FUTO PUTME Result Slip
- O’Level Statement of Results

- University Admissions Officer uses the verified results/Certificates to authenticate the Admission Letter or assigns the candidate to another Department as the case may be.
- Completion of forms in the Green files and Submission of the Files to the Departments for further necessary actions.
- Other clearance
- Registration at the Health Services and University Library.
NOTE:
- All admitted Direct Entry Students are required to inform their institution to forward their Academic Transcript to the Registrar, Federal University of Technology, Owerri. P.M.B. 1526.
- After matriculation, the student proceeds to the admissions unit of the registry to sign the Matricula within one (1) week.
- This Matricula from the admissions unit will serve as the input for the issuance of e-ID cards to Freshmen.
- Hostel Allocation
- Click the “hostel allocation” menu
- Click on “Generate Hotel reservation”
- Enter the required details
- Select the Hostel type
- Generate Hostel Allocation payment invoice
- Proceed to FUTO MFB for payment with the generated payment invoice.
- After successful payment in a bank, return to the portal with the ePin generated in a bank.
- Click on Print Hostel reservation receipt to print the allocated ROOM.
- Print the allocated room on the receipt and proceed to the Student Affairs Unit further clearance
- Online Course Registration
- Click the course registration menu and select the Register Courses
- Select the session and semester and click the submit
- Select your courses for that semester and click the submit button,
- Print the registered courses
- Online Result Checking
- Click the Result menu and select the view result
- Select the semester and session and click the submit button
- Print the online semester result slip.
REMARKS
- Students are once more reminded that payment of school fees is compulsory and this payment will give students access to:
- Obtaining Matriculation Number automatically
- Online Course Registration
- Semester Examination
- Campus WiFi.
