3 Students Emerges as Pioneer Beneficiaries of KDU Scholars Award

KolaDaisi University, KDU Ibadan, Institutes University Scholars’ Award with Three Students Emerging as Pioneer Beneficiaries.

The all female list included Solarin-Sodara Omotoke Tosin of the English and Literary Studies Department with CGPA of 4.84; Akin-Lewis Oba Iyunade, Economics Department with CGPA of 4.82 and Oladejo Otobiloluwa Peace of Microbiology Department with CGPA of 4.74.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kolade Luke Ayorinde, said the three students were rewarded to further motivate them and also serve as inspiration to their colleagues, stressing that the University will always promote academic excellence, as a basic tenet of its core value.

Professor Ayorinde disclosed that the awardees who are currently in the 200-Level, were selected based on their 100-Level results and that desiring students of such honour must strive to have a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.50, strive to maintain a CGPA of at least 4.0 in each of all academic sessions and also be of untainted character.

According to the Vice-Chancellor, the University, with effect from the 2018/2019 academic session, will accord awardees, special privileges that will enable them aside from their official recognition and title as University Scholars, enjoy partial scholarship throughout their stay in the University and be part of academic processions at all University events.

Professor Ayorinde lauded the vision of the Founder of the University and Bashorun of Ibadanland, Chief Kola Daisi, CON, who was present at the event, noting that the idea behind instituting the Scholars’ Award of the University was in line with the his “vision of promoting academic excellence and the support he has given to all who are willing to learn, irrespective of their background or status
