Following the conclusion of the 2022 National Common Entrance Examination of the Federal Unity Colleges on Saturday 7th May, 2022, the Federal Government through the office of the Ministry of Education disclosed that the number of candidates to be admitted would be based on the carrying capacity which would be handled by the ministry.

The Registrar, National Examination Council (NECO), Mr Ebikibina John Ogborodi disclosed that admission would be based on 60 per cent for merit and 30 per cent for
quota and others. This year Only 3,000 admission spaces are available.
The government also disclosed its intention to expand the carrying
capacity of the schools to 30,000 students from the current 26,000
students.
According to the The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Sunday Echono “Last year, the government increased the carrying capacity to 26,000 by creating more unity schools to accommodate students who wished to attend new schools and there are plans to establish new ones to bring the carrying capacity to 30,000”.
