NMC Ghana Registration Guidelines & Requirements [Nurses & Midwives]
Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana (NMC) Ghana Registration Guidelines and Requirements for Newly Qualified Nurses and Midvies Both Local and Overseas 2022 [RCN, RMN, RM, PNNM, POST NAC/NAP MIDWIFERY, EAR NOSE & THROAT (ENT), SERRA LEONEAN RM & RGN].
This is to inform all successful qualified nurses and midwives that the Nursing and Midwifery Council, Ghana has released the requirements and guidelines required of them to follow for a successful registration.

RECOMMENDED:


You are hereby advised to:

a. Pay the approved registration fee at any branch of ADB or GCB.
b. After successful payment, click on congratulations button to fill the registration form and submit online.

NB:
  • You are required to upload an image of your bank pay-in-slip.
  • You are not required to print and send a copy of the registration form to your institution for endorsement Proceed to the nearest Regional office with the following documents:
  • Bank pay-in-slip
  • Valid National ID Card
  • 2 passport size photograph with white background for Basic programmes and Red background for Auxiliary Programmes.

Failure to register within TWO MONTHS of RESULT RELEASE will attract a PENALTY.

NMC Ghana Registration Guidelines and Requirements [Qualified Nurses & Midwives]

A. Nurse Assistant Programs

1. Passport-sized photographs in uniform as follows:
a. Two (2) in number: Dimensions; 2 inches long, 1 ½ inches wide, with red background and show fully your uniform’s sleeves exposing the arm up to the elbow.
b. The registration form must be duly certified as being your true likeness by any of the following;
I. Deputy Director of Nursing Service
II. Principal/Senior Nursing officer
III. Ministers of Religion
2. Pay the approved registration fee at any branch of Republic Bank and proceed to our Regional Office to submit the filled and endorsed form together with the pay-in-slip. Candidates who are in regions where Republic Bank does not operate will be permitted to use the bankers draft.
3. Successful candidates in Regional Capitals where Republic bank does not operate will be permitted to use Banker’s draft payable to Nursing and Midwifery Council and present it to the Council for receipt and subsequent registration.
4. Failure to register within two months from the date on your results slip will attract a penalty
5. It is illegal to practice in Ghana without Registration. (Section (55 b & c) of Act 2013, Act 857)


B. REQUIREMENT FOR REGISTRATION (BASIC PROGRAMMES)

1. Please complete the attached Registration form and return it to the Council as soon as possible with;
Passport- sized photographs in uniform as follows:
a. Two (2) in number: Dimensions; 2 inches long, 1 ½ inches wide, with white background and
show fully your uniform’s sleeves exposing the arm up to the elbow.
b. Must be duly certified as being your true likeness by any of the following;
i. Deputy Director of Nursing Service
ii. Principal/Senior Nursing officer
iii. Minister of Religion
2. A total amount of Four Hundred and Seventy Ghana Cedis (GH¢ 470.00) covering;
a. Registration - GH¢ 200.00
b. A Logbook for Rotation/Internship/National Service - GH¢20.00
c. Professional Identification Number (PIN) renewable every year - GH¢50.00
d. An Induction Ceremony on Zonal Basis (Expect an invitation) - GH¢200.00
3. The total amount of GH¢ 470.00 should be made payable to Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana
Account at any Republic Bank (former HFC Bank) Nationwide and present the duplicate copy of
receipt to the Council for registration.
4. Successful candidates in the Regional Capitals where Republic Bank (former HFC Bank) does not
operate will be permitted to use Banker’s draft payable to Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana
and present it to the Council for receipt and subsequent registration.
5. You should register as soon as possible to facilitate your timely posting by the National Service
Scheme.
6. Failure to register within SIX MONTHS from the date on your results slip will attract a Penalty.
7. It is illegal to practice in Ghana without Registration. (Section (55 b & c) of Act 2013, Act 857)
8. You cannot be employed within the period of Internship/National Service/Rotation. 

C. REQUIREMENT FOR REGISTRATION (POST BASIC NURSING PROGRAMMES)

1. Please complete the attached Registration form and return it to the Council as soon as possible with;
Passport- sized photographs in uniform as follows:
a.Two (2) in number: Dimensions; 2 inches long, 1 ½ inches wide, with white background and show
fully your uniform’s sleeves exposing the arm up to the elbow.
b. Must be duly certified as being your true likeness by any of the following;
i. Deputy Director of Nursing Service
ii. Principal/Senior Nursing officer
iii. Minister of Religion
2. A total amount of Four Hundred Ghana Cedis (GH¢ 400.00) covering;
a. Registration - GH¢ 200.00
b. An Induction Ceremony on Zonal Basis (Expect an invitation soon) - GH¢ 200.00
3.The total amount of GH¢ 400.00 should be made payable to Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana
Account at any Republic Bank (former HFC Bank) Nationwide and present the duplicate copy of
receipt to the Council for registration.
4. Successful candidates in the Regional Capitals where Republic Bank (former HFC Bank) does not
operate will be permitted to use Banker’s draft payable to Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana
and present it to the Council for receipt and subsequent registration.
5.You are required to register with the Council within SIX MONTHS from the date on your result slip.
Failure to register within this stipulated period would attract a penalty.
6.It is illegal to practice in Ghana without Registration. (Section (55 b & c) of Act 2013, Act 857) 

D. REQUIREMENT FOR REGISTRATION AS A MIDWIFE (POST NAC/NAP MIDWIFERY PROGRAMME)

1. Please complete the attached Registration form and return it to the Council as soon as possible with;
Passport- sized photographs in uniform as follows:
a. Two (2) in number: Dimensions; 2 inches long, 1 ½ inches wide, with white background and
show fully your uniform’s sleeves exposing the arm up to the elbow.
b. Must be duly certified as being your true likeness by any of the following;
i. Deputy Director of Nursing Service
ii. Principal/Senior Nursing officer
iii. Minister of Religion
2. A total amount of Four Hundred and Fifty Ghana Cedis (GH¢ 450.00) covering;
a. Registration (with Certificate and Code of Conduct) - GH¢ 200.00
b. An Induction Ceremony on Zonal Basis (Expect an invitation soon) - GH¢ 200.00
c. Professional Identification Number (PIN) renewable every year - GH¢50.00 where applicable.
3. The total amount of GH¢ 450.00 should be made payable to Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana
Account at any Republic Bank (former HFC Bank) Nationwide and present the duplicate copy of
receipt to the Council for registration.
4. Successful candidates in Regional Capitals where HFC does not operate will be permitted to use
Banker’s draft payable to Nursing and Midwifery Council and present it to the Council for receipt and
subsequent registration.
5. You are required to register with the Council within SIX MONTHS from the date on your result slip.
Failure to register within this stipulated period would attract a penalty.

STEPS TO MAKING PAYMENT ON NURSING AND MIDWIFERY COUNCIL PLATFORM  [GCB BANK].

STEP 1:

Client picks a Smart-Pay slip at the Banking Hall

STEP 2:

Client should provide the following details:
a. Name of Institution (Nursing and Midwifery Council)
b. Service being paid for (e.g. Registration, Examination etc. at the top of the Slip)
c. Name of Customer should be name of Practitioner
d. Customer No. should be Practitioner's PIN or AIN (for newly qualified practitioners, indicate the N&MC indexing number)
e. Amount and denomination f. Telephone number should be the contact of the practitioner

STEP 3 

Present the completed slip to the teller and pay the amount stated

STEP 4 

The teller will key in the transaction and issue a stamped receipt

STEP 5 

Present a copy of the receipt to the N&MC's Regional Office for your General Counterfoil Receipt (GCR).


STEPS TO MAKING PAYMENT ON NURSING AND MIDWIFERY COUNCIL PLATFORM  [ADB BANK].

STEP 1: 

Client completes a deposit slip at the Banking Hall

STEP 2:

Client will indicate the following details on the slip:
a. Boldly write on the top of the deposit slip the service being paid for
b. Write name of the institution (Nursing and Midwifery Council) in the customer name space
c. Amount and denomination
d. Depositor's name should be name of the practitioner
e. Practitioner's PIN or AIN should be boldly written by the name
f. For newly qualified practitioners, indicate the N&MC indexing number
g. Contact number of practitioner at the telephone number field

STEP 3:

Present the completed slip to the teller and request for payment of the service indicated.

STEP 4:

The teller will key in the transaction and issue TWO printed receipts which will be duly stamped

STEP 5:

Present a copy of the receipt to the N&MC's Regional Office for your General Counterfoil Receipt (GCR)
