IAUE Matriculates 4,000 Students for 2018/2019 Session

Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, IAUE Matriculates / Admits Over Four Thousand {4,000} Students for 2018/2019 Academic Session - VC Says all 47 Programmes are Fully Accredited.

All the forty-seven undergraduate programmes offered by Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Port Harcourt, are fully accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC).

This was announced by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ozo-Mekuri Ndimele, during the 10th matriculation ceremony on May 4, 2019, at the university auditorium.

Professor Ndimele also disclosed that the university has entered into partnerships with some universities in the United Kingdom, the United States of America, Turkey, and Ukraine to run top degree programmes.

He explained that students would be admitted to study for two or three years at IAUE, and conclude the remaining years at one of the partnering foreign universities.

He also informed the audience that the university’s postgraduate school is one of the most efficient in Nigeria, pointing out that it is well equipped with state of the arts furniture, and students graduate in record time.

Among some of the achievements he has recorded since he was appointed the VC three years ago include; twenty-eight new classrooms, two large halls at the Information and Communications Technology centre, the purchase of a 1,500 KVA electricity generator.

Other plans aimed at boosting the infrastructural status of the university, the VC said, include the construction of new exit road to ease traffic on the main campus, state-of-the-art facilities at the library and the ICT centre, a 160 bed spaces postgraduate hall of residence that would be commissioned soon.

He also said that work would soon start on a world class female hostel donated to the university by the general overseer of Salvation Ministries, Pastor David Ibiyeomie.

While acknowledging that the university has been adjudged the safest in the country by security experts, he assured parents and guardians that the administration of the university would do the best it could to grantee the safety of the lives and property of students on campus.

The VC, who reminded the freshmen and women that the university is committed to making sports an enterprise, urged them to use the various sporting platforms provided in the institution to exhibit their talents.

He cautioned against involvement in activities that are contrary to the rules and regulations of the university, hinting that those caught in such vices would be thrown out of the system.

Over 4,000 students were admitted for the 2018/2019 academic session. IAUE is a Rivers State owned university, and has six faculties, three schools, one college, and runs postgraduate programmes.
