Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB Has Arrested Five {5} Persons, Prosecuted Them in Court and Sentenced them to Two Years in Prison, One Hundred and Twenty Three {123} Others Awaiting Trial.
As the global war on examination malpractice is being intensified, five persons who were involved in one form of exam malpractice or the other in the just concluded 2019 UTME had been convicted.With the conviction of these fraudsters, it is now clear to all that the judiciary is not what they have all erroneously felt it is.
The Board is proud of the Judiciary and urged it to continue on this path to ensure that all suspects arraigned with sufficient facts are convicted.
This experience is no different from the America's where college test administrators and celebrities were indicted by the US attorney for conspiring with consultants to get underperforming students into prestigious college and universities.
These convictions were part of the Prof.ls-haq Oloyede's determination to stamp out corruption and all crimes that are associated with examination malpractice.
As at the time of filling this reports, three suspects from Zamfara State, two from kebbi state have been convicted for periods of three - months to two years.
With this conviction, the Board has put to end all lip service in the fight against examination malpractice.
The four decade examination body is not joking in her avowed commitment to put behind bars the unscrupulous elements that are trying to circumvent the process of conducting credible examination in line with best global practices.
The public are enjoined to join hands with JAMB to sustained the restored glory and strengthen the Board's fight against infractions and lay solid foundation for tertiary education in Nigeria through fielding competent hands that would nurture the economy.
It will be recalled that the Board in the wake of the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination(UTME) made a sweeping arrest of elements who made attempts to undermined the registration process and subsequently the conduct of the examination.
No fewer than 123 suspects are standing trial in various courts on one form of infractions or the other.
The Board equally deregistered over 73 Computer Based Test (CBT) centres as a result of these infractions.
