Ignatius Ajuru University of Education (IAUE) Center for Continuing Education (CEP) Holds Orientation / Workshop Programme for Fresh Students 2018/2019 Academic Session.
The Centre for Continuing Education (CCE), Ignatius Ajuru University of Education on Tuesday June 25, 2019 held a one day workshop and orientation programme for her fresh students at the St John's Campus Aba road Portharcourt.Declaring the event open, the Vice-Chancellor of the University Professor Ozo-Mekuri Ndimele who was represented by the Head of St John's Campus Dr. Levi Doe Kalagbor charged the students to abide by the rules and regulations guiding the institution and to resist any attempt to destabilize the system.
He informed them that the University has zero tolerance for cultism, cult related activities and examination misconduct adding that defaulters will be thrown out of the University.
The Vice-Chancellor who advised them to pay their school fees, encouraged them to take their studies seriously for them to graduate on record time. He also appealed for patience on the part of the students as the University Management was working assiduously to ensure infrastructural development for them.
Earlier, the Director Centre for Continuing Education Professor Samuel Amaele in his address noted that the sole aim of the rare gathering was for the Unit to gather information from the students with the aim of improving the quality of services rendered for growth, better performance, expansion and quality human products.
He said that plans are on the way to establish study centres of CCE at Mbiama, Elele and Bonny. There is also according to him, intensive plans towards sensitizing the State Security apparatus to partner with the Centre on B. SC Security, Peace and Conflict Studies, a course housed in Political Science Department .
Professor Samuel Amaele commended the Vice-Chancellor for his great vision, versatility, institutional growth and quality human development and appealed for necessary facilities to be put in place for the students.
Also speaking the immediate past Director of CCE now Director of University Advancement Centre Dr. Emmanuel Chisa Ibara stressed that the quality of education given to the students is sound and that all the programmes of the University are accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC). He advised the students to read so that there will be no need for sorting.
The University Librarian Professor Boma Beatrice Obi who was represented by Mr. victor Nwagwu stressed the need for students to use the library for greater success.
The event which gave students the opportunity to interact freely and to ask questions bothering them also featured a workshop on "Workforce Activation" by Mr. Oboma Nathan.
In her vote of thanks, Deputy Registrar Mrs. Nkesi Chizi Owhonda expressed appreciation to staff and students who found time to grace the occasion.
