IAUE Financially Rewards 124 Students for Academic Excellence

Ignatius Ajuru University of Education (IAUE) Rewards One Hundred and Twenty Four (124) Students Financially for Good Academic Performance.

Over one hundred and twenty four students of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education with cumulative grade point average (CGPA) have received financial awards and commendation letters as Vice-Chancellor's scholars.

Professor Ozo-Mekuri Ndimele disclosed this on Sunday October 6, 2019 at the University Protestant Chaplaincy, the Chapel of Transfiguration ( Interdenominational) Mass as part of activities marking the tenth anniversary celebration of the University.

The Vice-Chancellor who expressed appreciation to those present at the Thanksgiving stated that the award is to encourage hardworking students and promote academic excellence which now plays second fiddle. He also announced a one million Naira cash award to the best graduating student come the convocation ceremony of the institution slated for December this year.

The Chief Executive of IAUE wondered why preference and huge sums of money is devoted to youngsters who pose nude on Television screen and engage in despicable acts while those who engage in academic activities and come out in flying colours in their different fields of educational endeavours are left unsong, unassisted and unappreciated.

He stressed that no nation can have any meaningful development if academic excellence is relegated to the background and commended the brilliance of the students whom he urged to sustain the tempo.
Professor Ndimele emphasized that the University will continue to produce quality students that can compete favourably with their counterparts all over the world and called on lecturers to key into the vision for the feat to be achieved.

He especially thanked the State Governor Chief (Barrister) Nyesom Ezenwo Wike for love shown towards the University and hinted that the Distance Learning Centre will be flagged off and some projects commissioned by the Governor during the convocation ceremony.

The Vice-Chancellor also expressed gratitude to the Presiding Pastor of Salvation Ministries, Pastor David Ibiyeomie for one hundred (100) room hostel project for female students of the University and Monier Construction Company (MCC) for cash award to some best students .

He used the event to announce the elevation of twenty five (25) academic staff to the professorial cadre and added that the promotion will help sustain the manpower needs of the postgraduate programmes.

Earlier the Chaplain of the church, Reverend Canon Paul Akunne lauded the founding fathers for laying a solid foundation and the Vice-Chancellor for building on what they have done.

He implored staff to always pray for their leaders and to appreciate achievements recorded. He admonished lecturers to desist from making unnecessary demands and writing projects for students stressing that such acts hinder the growth, progress and development of institutions.

The Wife of the Vice-Chancellor and President of Ignatius Ajuru Women Association Dr (Mrs) Joy Ndimele took the first reading at the Thanksgiving while the Registrar Mrs Hope Kue-Ikoro took the second reading. Prayers were offered for the country, state, leaders, the University, staff and students.
