JAMB Takes Precautionary Measures Over Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Takes Precautionary Measures Over the Spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19), Advises Staffs to Get Face Masks and Hand Sanitizers, Imbibe Regular Hand Washing, Covering of the Mouth when Coughing and Sneezing.

Determined to prevent the spread of the deadly Coronavirus otherwise known as COVlD-19, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAM B) has taken precautionary measures to prevent the spread ofthe epidemic. 

Covid-19 is a common viral infection of the nose and throat that was first noticed in Wuhan, China.

Those who have fallen ill are reported to suffer cough, fever and breathing difficulties while, in severe cases, there can be multiple organs failure. 

The Registrar at an emergency meeting with the Directors underscored the need to be proactive in tackling the menace, particularly as the Board is set to conduct the 2020 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) nationwide

He said that it would be proper to sensitize members of staff about the disease and draw attention to it adding, ”We must not wait for the virus to attack us before we take precautionary measures.” 

He advised members of staff to maintain a high level of personal and environmental hygiene while those suspected of flu—like symptoms or high temperature would be advised to stay at home. 

Members of staff were equally advised to get face masks and hand. Sanitisers. He urged them to imbibe regular hand washing, covering Of the mouth when coughing and sneezing among other measures for protection against the disease. 

He hinted that arrangements had been made to provide staff taking part in the forthcoming 2020 UTME with hand gloves and hand sanitizers for use in their centres. 

The Registrar also advised staff to shun acts that would expose them to health hazards.
