Latest Update: Adamawa State to Shut Down Schools for Reopening without Approval

The Adamawa State Government has threatened to shut down primary schools in the state for reopening without approval. This comes after some private primary school owners in the state, resumed academic activities for primary six pupils to write Common Entrance.

The Commissioner for Education, Wilbina Jackson, disclosed this on Wednesday, 2 September during a meeting with the state chapter of the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools in Yola.

The Commissioner maintained that COVID-19 guidelines must be followed by all stakeholders to prevent the spread of the virus in the state stating that the government has not approved the reopening of primary schools nor the conduct of common entrance examinations in the state.

She also condemned the situation where officials sent by the ministry of education to monitor compliance of schools in line with COVID-19 guidelines were prevented from doing so.

The Adamawa State Government is yet to announce an official resumption date for third (3rd) term academic activities for 2019/2020 academic session

All Adamawa State Citizens and Residents are hereby urged to disregard any date been circulated online as the official schools resumption date for both public and private primary and secondary schools students for third term academic activities for 2019/2020 session.

The Adamawa State Government has also has warned that any school both public and private in the state that re-opened for the 3rd term 2019/2020 school year either in schools environment or online before it authorizes that will have its license withdrawn and prosecuted.
