NMC Ghana Disassociates Itself from Sexually Explicit Video Online

Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), Ghana Disassociates Itself from Sexually Explicit Video Circulating and Trending Online on Various Social Media Platforms.

The Nursing and Midwifery Council's attention has been drawn to a sexually explicit video circulating on social media platforms which features a young lady wearing a uniform purporting to be a Nurse and dancing in a sexually explicit manner.

The identity of the 'Nurse' is yet unknown.

The Council disassociates itself from the video and also state unequivocally that it places great importance on issues of Professional Conduct for Nurses and Midwives thus condemns such act.

The Council would like to remind all practitioners that as expressed in Section 7(a) of the Code of Professional Conduct for Nurses "Uphold the reputation of your profession; your behavior must at all times bring credit to the profession" and Section 7(h) "Desist from abuse of the social media and ensure that it does not interfere with your professional practice/service provision", any practitioner found to have contravened the provisions would be sanctioned accordingly.

However, in line with the Council's regulations, the matter has been referred to the Intelligence and Disciplinary Department at the Council to engage with the general public and seek their assistance to identify the 'Nurse' in the said video for the necessary disciplinary actions to be taken.

The Council would like to assure all Nurse Assistants, Nurses, Midwives, our stakeholders and the public that it will continue to actively exercise its regulatory mandate against such unprofessional conducts that bring the name of the profession into disrepute.

We also respectfully encourage you to report such unprofessional conducts to the following contacts:
