National Universities Commission (NUC) Has Granted Full Accreditation to Thirty Seven (37) Courses and 5 Others Interim, Offered by the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Osun State at the October/November 2019 Accreditation Exercise.
The approval was contained in a letter addressed to the Vice-Chancellor of the University, by the Executive-Secretary, NUC Dr Suleiman Ramon-Yusuf.Thirty seven (37) out of the fourty-two (42) courses run in the University were granted Full Accreditation while five (5) others were given Interim Accreditation.
Among the 37 courses granted approval were Law, Dentistry, Botany and Fine Arts which was suspended in 2018.
With this development, the University has now got clearance to continue admitting undergraduate students in all its fifteen (15) programmes and will be able to mobilise its graduates for the one-year mandatory national service under National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
It should be noted that programmes with Full Accreditation will be revisited by the NUC for another accreditation after five (5) years while those programmes with Interim Accreditation will be revisited after two (2) years.

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has the statutory mandate to accredit academic programmes in all Nigerian Universities. Pursuant to this mandate and in consonance with the prOvisions of the current Government approved guidelines, initial accreditation of a new programme is held after the programme has run for two academic sessions following approval for the establishment of the programme.
Thereafter, the Commission accredits the approved programmes as and when due, Consequently, the NUC organized the accreditation of academic programmes at the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Osun State in October/November 2019.
