Cross River State Public and Private Primary and Secondary Schools Third (3rd) Term School Resumption Date for 2019/2020 Academic Session Announced [UPDATED].

Latest Update: The Federal Government (FG) on Monday 27th July, 2020 declared that all Secondary schools in the country should resume from 4th of August, 2020 for exit classes only.
Students will have two weeks within which to prepare for the West African Examinations (WAEC) due to start on the 17th of August, 2020.
It was agreed that the exit classes should resume immediately after the Sallah break, from the 4th of August, 2020 to enable them prepare for the WAEC examinations scheduled to commence from the 17th of August, 2020.

The Cross River State Government has announced an official date for resumption of third (3rd) term academic activities for 2019/2020 academic session

All public schools in Cross River State has been scheduled to resume on Tuesday June 16th, 2020 as the State government plans a special protective measures for children and others.

All Cross River State Citizens, Residents and the general public are hereby informed that So far the state remains the only state in the county without the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and poised to maintain that standard, the State government is braising the trail again as it has commenced the mass production of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) for trial resumption of public schools

The Cross River State Government has has therefore scheduled a a trial resumption of schools to be on Tuesday June 16th, 2020. Students will wear face masks and face shield to school. Once at the school gate the children will wash their hands and legs. Hand sanitizers will also be used. When the children enter the class room, they will remove the face mask and use only the face shield so as to get enough ventilation.

Upon closure, they will wear back their masks and wear the shields and go back home. Teachers will wear same and under go the same coronavirus protocols in the class room.

If this special strategy works, the state will be the first state in the county to resume since the pandemic and forced closure of schools in March.

Resumption of Public Schools in Cross River State.

As part of measures to ensure gradual casing of the lock-down occasioned by the Corona Virus pandemic. 

His Excellency, the Governor, Senator, Prof. Ben Ayade (KSJI) has directed the trial/phased resumption of all Public Schools In the State with effect from Tuesday. 16th June, 2020. This resumption, will be phased, beginning with three selected secondary schools across the three Senatorial Districts, and will be for SS1 to SS3 only. 

Other public/private schools, both junior and senior categories as well as primary schools will be informed of their own dates of resumption accordingly. 

The schools are:
1. West African Peoples Institute (WAPI), Calabar. 

2. Government Secondary School, (GOVISCO), lkom. 
3. Government Secondary School, lgoli, Ogoja.

All Principals, Teachers, Staff, Parents, Students and other relevant Stakeholders must ensure strict compliance with COVID-19 protocols.
